The Big Bad Brake Thread

To help put your mind at ease on the rotors, think of the difference between the bolt pattern, GPs = 115mm dia between studs, a F-Body is 120mm... so 5 mm difference in diameter. 2.5mm difference point to point from center. That is easy clearance in a rotor with over sized holes.

[QUOTEg dunkie;935124]You bought calipers without slider pins? strange...

F-body rotors correct? Then your fine.[/QUOTE]

Yes j got two new calipers for 30$ no brackets or nothing. I kept asking if I need slider pins everyone is telling me to use my old ones. And now it has to wait til new year =\

if you have no sliders you can buy a hardware kit, new sliders, bolts, rubber dust covers/boots and the metal sliders for the caliper bracket, where the pads rest.

last set i got was for a ford explorer, and was only 8 bucks or so.

Yea i got the hardware kit but they don't come with sliders. So 20$ for hardware kit, and 15$ for each side sliders =/

Avoid EBC brake pads...I'm still paying for that mistake on my Saab. Google EBC pad failure and you will see what they do. They will damage your rotors permanently. EBC wouldn't honor the warranty, terrible company. Never again. Spread the word!

sunna btch.

went out brake pad shopping, finally decide on the Green stuff. and yea after having them for a lil while, they kinda lie about a lot of things they're supposed to be good at...

smh.

Hawk pads or go home.

Only issue with Hawks is they just don't have the cold bit I like in the mornings, but boy do they bite when hot.

Once you feel Hawks hot, you hate them when they are cold.

^^ That is most definitely 100% true. But it doesn't take a lot of time to get em hot, just a few good stops. These hawks are hands down best pad I've used yet.

Thats not hot, thats warm LOL. Seriously go find an empty parking lot, start driving around like your AutoXing, stomp the **** out of the brakes. When they get hot, OMG do they stop. I've baked Hawk HPS pads so hot that it turned my Silver paint on my calipers to a copperish color LOL.

hahaha. man i'll teach you how to cook a set of brakes... if i could only show you my old calipers/ceramicpads/rotors

HAHA

themz waz somez deestroyed brakes haha

guess thats what happens when you race too many BMW's in moderate traffic hehe

I've got them that hot too. They will pull you out of the seat! But I think the trans hate it when I do that.

But I was more referring to the daily driving aspect of them. They're a great pad. Like you said though get them hot and it's mind blowing. I just feel like it's gonna tear the trans up.
