tail light and dash light issue

Just wondering if anyone has come across this issue or not. At night my dash lights and tail lights do not work. Blinkers, break lights, head lights and reverse lights work fine. From time to time they will all come one and work fine and then go off again. Sounds like a bad ground or lose wire or something along those lines but I have messed with every wire I can find under the dash and no luck. I was wondering if maybe the sensor that tells the lights to come on at night is messed up and my "head lights" are actually just my daytime running lights because they are not very bright at all.

No. That has never made a difference even before the tail light and dash light issue. I just thought that was normal for these cars. Its like the head light switch was just a cosmetic thing...lol.

Nope, it's a real switch. It's basically a manual override just for turning them on. When you have the issue, are the parking lamps on in the front? I'm wondering because they're not part of the headlight system, so if just the headlights are the only thing on, it sounds like that's just the DRL's.

I have to replace the bulbs in them and I will see. They both worked but have since burned out..lol. I need to replace the bulbs again. Before you ask, they went out one at a time not both at the same time. I have to replace them all the time.

If you have to replace them all the time there is something else wrong (fuse or relay or wiring). I have the diagrams for all the light wiring it's like 300 pages though the main one shows up on Google images and is fairly easy to find. If you need the others let me know.

I will look for it. When I replace them they would usually last less than a year.
