• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Swaping engine and trans from top ( first timer)

a engine needs 3 things to run, air, fuel and spark. one of them is cutting out for some reason.

vac leaks sometimes you can hear them hiss. or the idle revs up and down if its large enough. really large they stall.

i dont have brake or carb cleaner is there any other way to check for this with something else? Would it be normal that it ran for a a good 15 miles then this happening if it was a vac problem? Wouldn't that have prevented me from driving?

ill just have to get those cleaners and try around the hoses and spots you mentioned, except i want to be sure i get every single spot. Is there a diagram out there that perhaps shows all the vac hoses/leak prone areas maybe?

What are these vaccum lines and where do they run?

evap goes to the gas tank, the little one to the firewall goes inside the car and powers the vents.

spray the upper intake, the injectors, the tb gasket area the map sensor on the upper intake, the sensors on the tb too. and the egr pipes.

never seen that way, seen ppl use fog/smoke machines before tho.

either works fine, i like carb cleaner cause it dont stall the engine. both cost the same.

I got the carb cleaner gna give it another couple hrs so it stays on long enough to do the test. Can anyone else chime in on a possible solution?

so i tried the spray and i heard no abnormalities. I did a really good job of hitting the specific areas mentioned even the pulleys were sparyed in case of leak somewhere there i never heard any strange fluctuations in the engine. Almost used the whole can.

i also have a new code p0102. this is becoming very frustrating, i think i was very thorough with the carb cleaner but heard nothing.

im using a different tb(the one from my old engine) could thi be the culprit? i thought i heard the tb opening and closing when it turns off i could be wrong.

try unplugging and plugging back the tb plugs, maybe ones dirty, hell even tap on the sensor on it, maybe its bonked.

you can also see if you can keep it running off the carb cleaner as its stalling spray in the tb.

it doesnt stay on long enough to even try getting out and spraying carb cleaner on tb. id have to wait another few hours for it to stay on a couple min. ill try disconnecting plugs

ok it may be related to the tb. After disconnecting and reconnecting i got a reduced power alert on dash. when trying to rev engine to keep it (like before) it sounded abnormal and struggled to respond it did not rev clean.

That didnt do it. Theres an electrical sound made when you plug that big tb plug in, like a clicking noise. I notice that it makes this clicking noise while its sputtering and again once its completely off. I think this is a tb related problem. I also looked at the rpms closely and its like the car wants to stay on and struggles to. Itll be around 1000 rpm then sputters and goes down to 500 then back up 1000 again struggles then dies.
