"Supercharger" Problems!

Hello..

This is my first time so hey to everyone. I have a 1998 Grand Prix GTP and apparently my supercharger is going bad. According to the mechanic, they said the its the bearing on the supercharger that is bad but the engine is good. Any suggestions?

Does it sound like tumbling rocks at idle and goes away after you give it some gas?

If so...its the coupler. It costs like 20 bucks and new fluid is about the same. No, your supercharger just doesn't "go bad"...make sure to check the fluid level as well...it might just be empty after all this time.

Wow it does that! When it idles its like rocks bouncing up and down but when you drive it its perfect! i even changed the water pump thinking it was it and changed the Supercharger Tensioner thinking it was it.. LOL

Im not too great in mechanics..

That's why I love this site right there. The other place would've crucified him for his question.

Thanks guys for being so cool about helping people out.

You could also order the coupler from your local auto parts store. I ordered mine from orielly's. It is made by Dorman.

Only difference is those happen to go bad over time, like the stocker. The green ones don't get bad...or at least through all my trials and tribulations I haven't seen a bad one.
