Supercharger Coupling

Guys, I'm in need of help. I need to get the coupling for the supercharger on a '97 GTP, and need it fast. I'm thinking about using the Dorman coupling, but in the pictures it doesn't look the same, as it is flat all around and the original one has raised surrounding around three holes on each side. Has anybody used a Dorman coupling? I want to get this car running by tomorrow, if possible.

I know this is a subject that gets beat to death, but every search I did showed up with nothing on it. I guess I'll be the first to review this product.

id get a green one, why take a chance by putting the stock coupler back on there. the green ones are supposed to be somewhat stronger.

I just need to get this car up and running. They have the Dorman part at O'Reilly, so I'm going to have to go with that for now. Anybody know the Torque specs for the snout bolts?

yeah, nice and snug, dont over tighten them.

you'll need a small tube of anaerobic sealant to seal the snout to the case.

Supercharger oil is already on order, and should be here tomorrow. I called my local dealer and they wanted $20/bottle, that's insane!

Just a FYI, that dorman coupler will fail super quick.

Ask me how I know.............

Its good for a get you by type of thing if that what the last thing holding up a build or whatever, but a green eaton coupler will be wanted shortly after. That dorman one will sound like rocks in a bucket very quick.

The car is actually my neighbors, and he doesn't plan on racing it or anything like that. We'll see how it goes.

Just an update. I went ahead and got the Dorman coupler, and this thing really isn't bad. Those raised edges around the holes on the stock one are made up by making the Dorman piece thicker all around.

I personally think that would be better then a hollow center, since the pins are being supported by the completed coupler. We'll see how it holds up.

they all have a hole in the middle. the dorman's pin holes will wear out even if hes not a racer. so next year you can do it again for him lol

That's the same part I used. If you know what you're doing, you can have it replaced in an hour. Don't forget to get two bottles of supercharger oil, as you almost certainly will lose whatever is currently in the snout when you pull it off. Pull the alternator off, pull the ten-odd bolts holding the snout in place, replace the coupler which will be sitting right there. Replace everything, fill the snout with the oil via the little hole on top (3/16 allen wrench, I think), and you're good to go.

As a heads up, used supercharger oil smells foul. Kind of like bad Cheetos on steroids. If it gets in your engine bay, it'll smell all week.
