:th_sick1: Ok this problem is getting old. As a few of you know i had sunroof issues not to long ago. The sunroof is leaking from the interior lights and poors all over my lap when i make a turn or sudden stop. I went ahead and cleaned the drain tubes, and replaced the rubber seal that goes around the sunroof itself. That sunroof seal was $150.00! and my problem still isnt resolved. I was thinking of removing the entire headliner and trying to find where this leak is comming from, but if anyone else has ideas please help me out...

Re: sunroof still leaking

Unfortunately, that is probably your best bet. A while ago there was someone having a problem with a leak by around the wind shield due to some rust through. Just food for thought!!

Re: sunroof still leaking

just wondering have u had ur windshield replaced lately?

No, i didnt. I did remove the headliner about 20 mins ago. I had to leave it in the car because i couldnt fit it threw the doors :th_laugh-lol2:, its just sitting in the back seat, feels like im driving a hoopdie without a headliner :(. I was going to see if there is another gasket between the sinroof assembly and the roof of the car.

Re: sunroof still leaking

I didnt know our cars had drain tubes that go out to the rear of the car. I was wondering if they are clogged, it would make sense as to why water comes out when i hit the brakes or make a turn. Im gonna disconnect all four tubes from inside and blow them out with the air compressor tommaorw morning.

just a shot in the dark,i used to have a 97 GT and had the windhield replaced before i got into autoglass.water was building up in the same spot.turned out to just have a leak though from the install.good luck!

Re: sunroof still leaking

so did you ever figure out what the deal was? I am having the SAME EXACT problem, but don't have time to take down the headliner unless I know that I HAVE to lol. as far as I know my windsheild hasnt been replaced, but I've only owned it for about 6 or 7 months. the water builds up in the dome light housing and then comes out when I hit the gas, brake or turn....its really annoying lol. when its been raining for a while, when I take off, I hear a loud sound of water rushing..so I dont know if it is the drain tubes or not.

Re: sunroof still leaking

I think I got it this time, im not 100% yet. i pulled the headliner completly, and unplugged all 4 drain tubes, and blew them out with the air compressor really well. The read tubes are very fragile and made from really cheap rubber hoses. It seemed that the ends were cracked, the side that connects to the sunroof assembly. I cut the ends about 1/4" so it would have a nice new seal to the sunroof assembly. Then took zip ties and tightly wrapped the ends of the drain tube inserts. It has been raining in Jersey for the past 3 days and no water fall :). I did take alot of pics of the repair job, and how to remove the roof liner,(without breaking anything) Ill upload them soon.

Re: (at least i think) sunroof still leaking

OUTSTANDING! Glad you got it fixed and thank you for taking the pics and doing the write up (if needed). Congrats.

Re: (at least i think) sunroof still leaking

I was going to ask u if i could post it in the write-up section :)

Re: FAILED 2nd attempt at the sunroof leaking

I wanted to make sure that my solution worked before i made a write-up how to. It turns out that the sunroof is still leaking. Im started to think that its comming from the windsheild seal. <(someone on here thought that was the problem) If you have any other ideas feel free to chime in. I know a couple of you guys have the same problem. Im working on it to figure this out, ill keep you updated if i find out the solution.

Re: FAILED 2nd attempt at the sunroof leaking

i thought so too,u been dealin with this prob for awhile...hope u get it fixed.

Re: FAILED 2nd attempt at the sunroof leaking

some times the rails on the sunroof like to bend just enough to have the sunroof bearly open. Just enough so that you cant tell. I hope that isnt your problem. usually they are a pain in the ass to do. Have fun :)

Re: FAILED 2nd attempt at the sunroof leaking

Problem solved.......

Just kidding, please don't resort to that. LOL! Seriously, I would cover the sunroof in plastic and then tape down all the plastic really well. Then soak the car with a hose for an hour or so. If you still get the water in the light at least you can rule out the sunroof. Which if your drain tubes are clear, I'm convinced it's not the sunroof. Simple fact is, they do not seal which is why it has the tubes in the first place.
