Suggestions for a good gun to buy.

My cousin has the SD40ve, he says it's good but I went for the M&P40, just a slight step above.

I did body shots for the first target and I definitely need to get used to it and how it recoils. The headshots were because I was strictly focusing on them. I'll post more targets every time I practice.

What kind of helpful accessories can I get for this sucker?

If you feel there is too much recoil, try using a heavier bullet. It can dramatically decrease recoil. Also, there a spring kits available for the trigger to make it a lighter action. Just be very careful because it can in some cases (my Glock) cause it to go full auto. Not fun while at the range. My best advice is just to keep practicing. Don't shoot until your arm is tired...shoot a few clips a couple times a week. That will help you gain confidence with the gun. Once you get confident, you will be double tapping the target in no time.

I'm planning on getting the xds45 in February. Very nice gun. Fits in my hand perfectly. Alittle smaller mag for my liking but hopefully I don't need anymore than 2 shots if i need to draw on someone

Sounds like a plan A. You will only perfrom at 50% of your training ability in a gun fight.

Always have a plan a and a plan b. Plan a will almost always fail.

I bought the spring kit from apex tactical. Theres one for the m&p also it cuts the trigger weight about in half. I wouldnt recommend either gun without it ita still a long pull but light and smooth enough to make them alot easier to shoot.

hmm That's something I'd definitely get. Easy to install? I was at the range again today and I could definitely see how a lighter trigger would help when shooting. I'll have to look up some videos on it.

Still gotta look into a belt holster and a laser possibly. This is turning into another modding addiction lol

Be careful with those lighter triggers. They may be great for targets but may get you in trouble for selfdefense.

My grandpa gave me his Ruger .22 when I was 14 (fully licensed in gun training though lol) and last year he gave me his old .357 Magnum. I tell you. I would never want one of those as a concealed weapon lol that thing could kill a bear.

The lighter trigger is a bit more confidence inspiring IMO. Knowing the weapon...even in the worst of situations...is better than feeling like you're trying to pull down a tree. I've only ever drawn a weapon once, and I hope to never have to again. Knowing the gun will fire just like it has countless times at the range will make you far less worried and possibly sound more purposeful and not need to pull the trigger.

I don't know you so this is not an attempt to put you down, so please don't take it that way.

Good luck with pulling the weapon without knowing you are about to use it. That's not something many experts will recommend.

And with that light trigger in a stressful situation the weapon will likely go off anyway. A trigger job to smooth out the break would be good though.

Were not talking competition trigger its still an almost 5 pound trigger and they are really long pull identical to a double action or revolver trigger. So there isnt much chance of a misfire while drawing it. search for apex tactical and look up the kit they have a video of install super easy took me like ten minutes. Because it replaces springs and doesnt mod how the gun functions its still 100% reliable. Read reviews on multiple forums you will know.

Also on a side note there is a youtube video with a guy who has trigger tester that compares weight before and after
