• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

stupid dealer or was I unreasonable

i just re read this...its a 99!!!! wtf!!!! go get a trans am for that money...the LS motor is handcrafted by god herself and handed down to the greatest car company in the world.....GM!!!!!!!!!

I like it!

When we bought my wife's used car, I said, "give me not a dollar over $12k out the door--tax, title, tag, fees, everything--and you got a deal." "Slim" at the finance desk came back with a figure of $12,020 and a sleazy smile on his face. I told him to get his damned hearing checked and got up to walk. The sales guy whipped a $20 out of his wallet and said "I'll pay the f**kin' difference!" :th_laugh-lol3:

Anyway, since they came "groveling" back to you, it's time you shoot them a substantially lower counter-offer. Sad fact is, these cars are not in high demand, and simply ain't worth ****.

And BTW, I found my Mother-in-Law a mint, loaded 02 Regal LS with 36k for $4k at private sale a few months ago...in Southern California no less.
So if they won't deal, **** 'em and keep shopping.

If they had any brains, after making you that better offer they should be prepared for you to decline, and then counter with a better offer, chances are they didn't pay shieet for that car. it's up to you now, are you going to let emotions play a part in the purchase of the car? How much do you really want it? Personally I would look for a GTP.

I did end up declining their "generous" offer. Went looking again tonight and found two more GTs on the same lot... a 2006 for $9995 with 65000 miles. He offered $2800 for the Focus. The other one was a 2005 with 86000 miles for $7999. Both prices are about right on according to Kelly Blue Book. Both are fully loaded except no leather or sunroof, not a big deal to me but my wife for some reason has her heart set on a sunroof.

I'm finding GTs all over the place here in Des Moines. Almost every lot I drive by seems to at least have one or two. I hope that doesn't mean they are trying tell me something.

X2^^...you can get a nice GTP for around 5K

Agreed, i got mine for $4,500. Really $3,500 but it needed about 1k of tranny work which my dad and i did.

IT was a 99 GTP with ~70k miles on it, 4 door, sunroof, HUD, leather seats, driver side heated.

i dont understand why people dont just have 3.29's with the low compression motor so you can run more boost...

Higher compression will make more power out of less boost. Also, the less boost you have to make the less parasitic loss created by the supercharger which gives you even more power. :th_winking:

I don't understand why most s/ced gtp guys are still using the L67 and 2.93 gearing.

That's not even a relevant comment to mine.

I'm comparing two stock cars, not modifying one of them.

Not everyone can afford mods, or want to mod their cars.

But when someone gets a GT wanting to "Go Faster" I see it as a waist of money compared to just getting a stock GTP.

in chicago. there is a gorgeous white 2000ish gtp with 80k'ish miles that has been for sale since may for 7995. dont do it. look around. not saying you must get the gtp.. but i would assume thats why u look at the car. anyways Keep looking

How's that? When you can get a damn good looking GT and top swap it...save money on insurance since it ISN'T a GTP and you will also save money in the long run when you spend 3 grand total with the top swap and your going faster than the "stock GTP" guys while they have to spend another grand on top of their car to crack 13's.

I'm not going to bother arguing, you guys are right, you always are aren't you? :th_thumbsup-wink:
