• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Strut Options for making coilovers

BC coils (the standard ones) are like bottom of the barrel coilovers. they're no racelands, but they all share the same architecture (BC, ksport, megan, d2, etc.).

How do you think BC's would compare to the current axg +sleeves/springs that are available now? Do you think bottom of the barrel coilovers are a worse choice than the DIY ones on here already?

you mean a sleeve smashed on a stock replacement strut which when run low will constantly ride the bump stops and smash the seals?

i'd hope they'd be by far better considering the body itself would begin shorter and you wouldn't have to lose travel when you lower the car (until you go really low).

Okay, i was just wondering. I guess it sort of was a dumb question, but I do occasionally hear about guys blowing out bc coilovers.

If BC or KW really will make a set, that someone buying them is going to have to reallyyyyy want them with all of the hassle involved. That still doesn't solve the issue with the axles binding either, spacers will only do so much so the coilovers are really only half the battle.

Fresh axles+spacers would probably kill almost all vibration. Nick in Iowa ran Intrax springs with no spacers and new axles and said he never had any vibration

Did anyone get a quote on pricing?

KW will sell you clubsports if you ask and have cash. You'll likely need around 3K to start. They'll likely run you 4-6.

shorter axles.

Are you guys sure this axle thing is a thing and not just worn out CV joints?

I dumped my car, no axle issues. Just riding bump stop issues.

IMO it's worn CV's. When I swapped my coils onto my buddy's car when he bought them he had little to no vibration at the same height I was at. I have a full stack of Vinnie spacers, he has no spacers at all. His car has ~50K less than mine. So, IMO it's worn axles that do it.

it is the axles... specifically it's the inboard tripod.
They wear a groove and when ride height changes with used axles the tripod wheels end up riding up and down the end of the ramp from worn area to the previously unused surface.
A constant velocity joint is no longer constant velocity. ..the tripod is accelerating and decelerating as it rides up and down the ramp...you feel it as a vibration. ..your drivetrain feels like its getting pummeled like a pornstar...

I don't even think they have any specific designation. I bought them in 07 and was one of the first with a 3000GT/Stealth to have them and install them.

After looking at some of the vendors that sell them it appears they all call them "street coilovers."

When at a state meet once we were on some mountainous back roads and the guy following me said he had never seen another 3/S stick like mine did in the corners. He also said that he was starting to think my brake lights went out because he hadn't seen them in so long. LOL I was doing a lot of engine braking and with that and the way the car sticks corners I didn't need to use them.

Well S14 coils can be ruled out. I was hangin out with a buddy while he was workin on his 240. Had stock suspension layin on the floor and I was curious so I measured the top hat and the studs aren't placed right.
