Stroked GTX L67...

GTP89

Basically what i want to know is the good and the bads of a stroked L67 and what it actually does since i really dont know much about that. Reason as to why i asked is i bought a gtx which some of you may have seen already about 2-3 weeks ago and the guy claims it is stroked and wanted to learn as much as i can about that topic and to see and find out if it really is or not before i start putting money into something idk of how is built.

Some vids that i have posted before..
Gtx 2 - YouTube

Pontiac gtx - YouTube

There is no way to tell if its stroked unless you tear the engine apart. Regardless, the engine sounds like its about to come apart.... In a bad way. What all is done to it? I see the nitrous or meth and it sounds like its cammmed or has a nasty vac leak.

First thing I'd do is research the car on the internet. If it's stroked, there is likely a large build thread on one of the many 3800 forums.

In those videos yes it does sound bad but to me it's more of a lifter tick or pushrods something small not big at all.
As far as the vacuum goes yes it's pretty bad on the video but that was when it had the codes I will uPload a vid of how it runs when i erased them and idled fine and sounded good besides the tick.

I have tried already but found nothing to very little info and videos on stroker builds for our gp yet alone this GTX.

Swan Racing's domain/page is gone.

Le fail.

They were the only ones to make a worthwhile kit, it was just expensive as hell.

Like slow said...only way you're going to really find out or not is to pull the engine and rip it apart and measure the cylinders wall to wall.

sounds like you will be ripping the motor apart anyways with that awful tick.... you might want to get looking on that before something gets worse and leads to way bigger issues

Can i verify if it strokes by dropping the bottom oil pan and taking a look?
According to the guy it has forged JE Pistons in it.

I am just don't know if I should replace the lifters as of now as well as pushrods.

I'd rather pull the motor than drop the pan with the motor in the car.

That will be done but I just don't wanna pull the heads and get down that far in and replace all gaskets and such again I don't mind tearing everything else down just the heads I don't want lol

If you're going to do it...just get it done.

Not like the 3800 is an expensive motor by ANY means. You'd be looking at a few hundred bucks.

I am that's the idea but want to do it right since idk what to watch out for or look for if it really is stroked.
