Straight up trade



That's exactly who I was thinking of when I thought about it lmao. I mean, I get the gist of it. My only problem is learn when the clutch grabs when going from a stop. But I'm trying to think of this from my perspective. Ill want to mod it. It's going to be my DD, I'm in college, I make under a grand month, can I afford gas and insurance. Too many factors and seems like a huge hassle to play with lol. I just like the thought of having a RWD v-8 but everyone Mack's on these 2v's. plus everyone says how I should just keep my Daytona since its one of a kind around here and you see all mustangs everywhere. I don't mind tht, it's just the fact ppl act like its the fastest coolest car in the world where from my perception it's a slow crap engine v8 pony with not much going for it.

Just tonight I was with my girlfriend getting food and we were behind a dodge Durango SUV. A crotch rocket kept reving it's engine behind us. We end up pulling to another light and I'm next to the Durango. It's a teenager in it just staring me down. Then the bike behind us still is reving it's engine, so I rev mine and the kid in the Durango is sill staringe down. Light goes green and he takes off. So I trail him up to 35 easing into throttle knowing ill spin, then I punch it and just walk over him. I brake and the kid flies past and then the bike flies past both of us.

moral is, I feel like with the mustang, ill be picked on by all the cobalts ss's, srt 4's, ls1's ect where as in the Grand Prix no one really expects much from it as is. But with the mustang everyone's usually has the image of some d-bag who thinks he's got the best hot rod around cause its mustang.
 
I've emailed this guy... As much as I love my car I might consider this trade...

i get picked on by mustangs all the time, always looking to run my gto, that's the fun in having a sports car. Id hate to drive rwd in the winter, hence part of the reason i drive an accord. Ive driven a 03' mustang, in the snow/frezzing rain, it was the scariest drive in my life, getting sideways all down a hill missing 3 telephone poles. Mustangs have garbage for handling but they're motors you can almost beat on all day.
 


I would say you should definitly consider it but be aware that it may have a lurking issue. When I comes to driving a manual you wil be able to pick up on it fairly fast I think. I struggle with it as I dont do it much. I usually just drop the clutch to get going. Keep in mind thats with a 2.2l cavalier. Do that with the Stang and youll have no tires left. lol
 
Call your insurance company and get a quote I can't imagine its to much more then what you pay for on the GP. Gas mileage shouldn't be much different go check out some stats..after all Grand Prix aren't all that fuel efficient after all.
 
The only reason he wants to do the trade is because of GPs getting better gas milage... Which is gonna be funny if I did the trade and he realised its not any better at all lol.
 
Ya ik. I'm just having a hard time with getting rid of the daytona. First car, first car i put money and effort into it. It's like giving away my new born and adopting another kid instead lol. I mean, yes, its just a grand prix, but this one is special cause there's none around. That's what I've been told by my dad and my cousin, who hangs around meets/strips ect. He had a 3dp 3.4 gtp back in the day and said he wouldnt even waste his time on mustangs cause his was quicker, but he's a ford fan cause he just bought a new f150 and said to stay away from the 2v's.
 


Ya ik lmao. Its just the thought of possibly having a muscle v8 RWD that would sound amazing but wouldnt be all to practical. I really need to get into the mindset that I'm a 20 year old in school working part time. I should wait til I'm out of school to buy a fun spare car, not swapping one for another and bite myself in the ass.

It's a new platform, and making a $1000 a month you don't exactly have extra money if something was to go wrong. You'll have your whole life ahead of you..there will always be a v8 option then. Also you dk how the mustang was drivin..at least for the most part you know how the GP was treated..


Now keep thinking about it and I'm going to go on a mass killing spree on baby seals.
 
Ya, because the GTP has been fixed up and i know exactly how it runs and how it should. But I still plan on modding this GTP as i have it, just a slower pace so i don't burn my bank account lol. Thanks for the input guys
 
Nothing is wrong with modding the GP. Take your time you'll get to your goal eventually. Another plus is how simple Wbody are and how rather inexpensive parts are plus we have BillBoost do the mustang guys have that..hmm not sure.

lol ya I like our community and they seem decent to work on, altho ive been looking and it seems like a misconception that the new edges are hard to work on.
 
FWD > RWD in the snow, you will hate driving the Mustang in the winter. I did it for years back in my 5.0 days & it sucked.
 
Im still thinking about it. I dont drive my car in the winter (have more than one), and I have a good paying full time job.
for me:
Pros
-RWD
-Manual (pro and con as its been a looong time)
-KBB almost double value
-It has some mods, no rust, no issues and less miles than my car (84k vs 119k)
-SOUNDS AMAZING! Soooo much better sounding. Harper's (aka boosten's) makes me jelly for sound. Not gonna lie.
-Probably better interior quality.
-Lots of new maintinence parts taken care of and it SOUNDs like its been treated right.

Cons
-Much slower than my car currently
-I paid 5800 for my car in 2008 and have probably spent 10k+ on it since. AKA I have a lot of time and energy and personalisation into my car that would take a long time and $ to build with the mustang.
-Sentimental Value. Even though my car is a dick sometimes I still love it. It may not sound great and it might be FWD and love to eat wheel bearings and other things but I still love it. Very attached to it. Just as I was my last one ive always thought I'd just keep it forever regardless the cost.
-Distance. 3 hour drive to check it out.
-Not knowing for sure what the condition inside the engine and other things are exactly. I know exactly what my engine is like inside (its frickin perfect). And I know whats pissed, what isnt pissed, and what was pissed.
-Not knowing jack **** about the mustang scene. I've been in the grand prix scene since 2005 when I got my first car (a diff grand prix). I know exactly whats gonna break and what mods are best and if I don't I know exactly where to go to find out. Mustang field is a mystery I have yet explored.

Either way ill probably have feelings of regret. :X
 
Go for the Stang if it doesn't have to be a snow/bad weather dd
When you see the stang take a compression gauge, test the cylinders (done quickly in RWD applications :) ) & that will provide piece of mind on engine state. Easy to learn & way easier to work on.
