Sticky Gas pedal? Help!

Hello everyone, most of the time when I go to start my GP, i either have to "un-stick" the pedal by pressing it down before I start the car or push it down and jerk the car forward to unstick it once started. To be more specific, the pedal just gets stuck and is hard to press down, but once I give it a little force it works fine and doesn't stick while driving. It just gets hard to press down after cutting the car off for extending periods. Once i unstick it then its fine while driving. I suspect a gunky throttle cable, or dirty throttle body? Any ideas what it is, and suggestions to fix it? Mind you its the original throttle cable and linkages from 1998.

thanks

Ok, i'll try the throttle body and cable b'c neither has been touched since i've had the car so lets see how that works out :)

I had a dodge daytona that did this but it would stick at WOT sometimes as well. Pulled the tb off and it had grooves it in where the blade wore into it. It had about 350,000-400,000 miles on it though.

pop the cable off the throttle body and push the cable back in and pul it back out of the cable housing, see if its smooth, they do fray up and cause sticking. and then break.
