staggered tires...

So, unlike most GP owners, I'm more into auto-x than drag racing. That said, I was wondering if anyone has tried running a staggered tire setup--similar to the GXP--on their 97-03 GP. Cause what I'm looking at is just getting a set of Mustang 17s to put on the front when I go auto-xing (w/ 245/45s) to try and help kill that d@mn understeer. Or would I be better off getting a second set of torque stars or similar and putting r-compound hoosiers on them? (understanding that money IS an issue :P) Let me know what you guys think. Will wider, lower profile fronts help kill understeer and improve handling?

Staggered tires make all kinda of sense. These cars have way to much grip in the rear anyhow, and too little in the front, so the GXP approach is the way to go.

thanks for the input guys. think im gonna wait until next season to get the rims and put them on. they don't like racing during the winter up here in montana. something about it being 30 below and every road being a sheet of ice. pansies :P

I was going to say that R compound tires all around would be better than just a wider street tire up front. Still would help though.
