Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Spun a rod bearing Ugh!! It torn down FEW PICS

I feel for you,I just went through this very recently with my gtp.I will be posting a thread and tracking my mileage on the rebuild.Make shure to check your timing cover for wear in the oil pump walls.I had to buy a new one due to all the crap it pumped.Scard it up pretty bad, altho mine ate itself a little worse than yours it looks like.

Thx for the tip gold go I'll post up a pic off the oil pump and walls tonight. I never really looked close at the walls.

EDIT: Pics of the oil pump walls.

How much is this going to cost all said and done?

Hard to say seeing how most of the reconditioning machine work is being done by a buddy. Not including the cam im at about $500 but that is with a lot of ARP fasteners and those are not cheap. This ts not cheapest route to get it back up and running. My last 3800 3.0 S1X build had 26k on it. Then I got into a 26 car pile up with it in Milwaukee so that was the end of that one.

So the machine work will be done Tomorrow and ill post up all the work done. Im having my buddy list out what this would cost for a normal customer. Right now he said I would be at $1186 but again ill be getting a very nice discount. Plus I have over $700 in parts I bought. Ill post up when I get the invoice. This is why everyone says just find a low mile salvage engine when one pops. To try do this right it is pricey.

yes gudness this is so correct just got my block from.the machine shop with diamond pistons arp.hardware and everything. Ran me close to 2300 but it will be fresh rebuilt which will.give me a good peace of mind. Next to have the heads rebuilt and will then look at finding a nice set of ported heads

I have the invoice printed up. I'll post up when things slow down for me. My wife gave birth to our 2nd child yesterday A boy! Woot woot!!

Ok so im into this for approx. $1200 $700 for Cam stuff gaskets ARP hardware all fluids and few other odd and end parts then $500 for the machine work but that was over a 50% discount. Normal machining price would have been a bit over$1200 after sales tax.

I gave the invoice to my wife and she freaked out. Probably not a good or cool thing to do to a woman who just gave birth 3 days ago.

Machine Shop Invoice

Im not liking the scoring on the oil pump area on the front timing cover. Does anyone know where I can get one? I also heard the 2004-up are a better design??? Havng a really hard time sourcing one of these.

I got mine from gmparts direct I believe.Beware, sometimes they take forever to get you your $hit. The one I got was casted correctly.

Edit:Actually, got it from charles clark Chevrolet company out of texas.
214.49 part number:12576033. I think gm parts direct was just the middle man.
