spark plugs

I have not had my car for long so decided to have a look at the plugs. The colour looks good but I see that their NGK TR55 GP. From what I've read its an iradium plug which is probably not the best for a supercharged car? They look like they are in really good shape but the reason I checked them because Im getting KR when not in boost? I notice that if Im cruising along at 60 mph on a road with hills I can get upwards to 8* KR when going up the hill and the engine is under load? I get very small amounts >1* under boost. I guess Im asking 2 things;

Could the plugs be the reason for this KR?

If I need to change plugs please tell me what a good plug for these cars preferably (champion) What heat range?

Thanks

No...it isn't the plugs...it sounds like false knock...do you have any exhaust mods? If you do they might be hitting the front sway bar...if so, filp it over...it is a common issue with larger exhaust systems.

Well first off what do you have done to your car? It could be a lot of things. Give us a little more info.

Front plog,u-bend delete, zzp ported tb,3.3 pulley,1.9 rockers, overkill tune,u-drive pulleys. Everyone will say the pulley is too small but like I said I only get this at cruising speeds in 4th when the engine is under load. Maybe a fueling issue? I only run 93. Fuel filter was changed recently. I dunno but if it were under boost I would change pulleys butthe 8* KR has me stressed especially when its just cruising along. Dirty injectors?

Well it could be a lot of things but with the pulley being that small that is what the problem is.

It could be Torque Management
It could be the TCC not unlocking when it should
It could be to much timing in the wrong parts of the Timing Table

All of those things have to be changed inside of the PCM. I bet if you changed the pulley your KR would reduce in the area that you are seeing it at.

Hmm, I appreciate your feedback but dont agree. If I was seeing this under boost than I would agree. I could pull the belt off and still get the same results so how could it be the pulley? This pic was done after an hour of driving and it was 86 and humid. If the pulley was to small, Im sure I wouldnt be getting .2* KR. Maybe Im just not understanding this KR thing.

If you ask for advice then disagree then why ask for it in the first place. We are all here to help and were not right next to you with a tuner or scanner so cut us some damned slack, ok?

I still say go flip the sway bar. I say it is false knock.

" iradium plug which is probably not the best for a supercharged car?"

I thought thats what we were supposed to be running in SC cars. The more I know, the less I know......:th_scratchhead:

Whaaat? Easy their tiger, since when does anyone have to agree with advice they are given? I dont think I came across as an a$$hole. I think I even said "I appreciate the feedback" Its called problem solving dude. Asking questions, giving info, feedback, discussion.

Wow, your sensative, next time you see a thread created by myself, dont read it, Im asking for advice, not drama. Im sorry if that offends you but........
Code:
cut us some damned slack, ok?
Their was no need for that.

coppers are the best for these cars. I run autolite 103's but NGK coppers imo are better. I'll 2nd false knock. bluegtp and TDC are both respectable members here only trying to help you...they give you great advice and you say its wrong...

I dont doubt they are both very knowledgable. I never doubted the false knock either, highly possible. What I did doubt was that the pulley was to small and even though I doubted it I still went out and put the 3.8 back on and same thing. Then I get told to cut them some damn slack? LOL OK.

Thanks for the advice on the plugs which was one of my original questions. I wasnt trying to prove anyone wrong here, again, its called problem solving and appears its not welcome here. Heres our advice, were right, f off. lol

It beyond welcome...you've just said in more than this thread about you getting all up about you having .2* of knock...ok, we get it, you pulley size it fine, Parker was giving his 2 cents worth. That is what the "cut us some damned slack" was about, not to bust your balls, which it seemed it did...so my biz. It just seems me and Parker give advice and you say "I don't agree"...internet wording always sucks because you can never understand the emphasis that you put on the words...maybe I took it wrong idk...it is definitely one of those days today.

I still say its false, or burst knock...something is coming in contact with something (solid to solid) and making that knock sensor freak out and cut your timing...

well after listening to you about doing what you did with the pulley and belt i'd have to agree that it's not the pulley. I'll have to take my statement back about the pulley but it still could be something in the PCM.

I bet the EGR needs to be disabled. A lot of people have problems with part throttle KR becuase of this.

It's worth a try. Try unplugging it. Or better yet try taking it off and blocking the ports off.

Hey, no need to take any statement back, I started to have my doubts too...obviously thats why I tried it. Telling you that was not the problem was not meant to be offensive but nessesary when problem solving. I tried searching the forum for disconnecting the egr and found nothing. If you have a chance can you explain or maybe post a link? Thanks again.
