• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Some more top swap questions! Yay!

Yeah it happened to me to let it drain out. I used some rtv around the threads and I've never had a problem.

There's not suppose to be any coolant in there only air that's bad that's exactly how my motor hydro locked and bent that rod I showed you.... when I took my motor apart the bearings had water spots on them and it ruins them.

When i took it apart last time i asked everyone on here and they said it was normal to have fluid in there

Everyone? No its the intake there's no coolant that should run through there air only. That's the main problem with N/A cars because the coolant passage that most people plug off with "dimes" I guess leak into the intake when the plastic upper plenum or intake takes a **** that's why there are revised upper plenums now.

I changed the lim gasket just because i heard it was a common problem. When i did that succesfully is when i said screw it. Top swap

Yea when that plastic pos **** gasket goes then you get coolant running through the intake down in your motors big problem with N/A cars there's a write up on here about it if you search it

Ya ive read it but lets say that what happened then why is there still fluid in the intake after i replaced everything with brand new gaskets?

So that picture appears that it's stained from dex cool which means there was coolant pooling on top of the intake. You said it was worse before so now you took it apart after the gasket were changed and there's no coolant I'd say you got extremely lucky and you probably have been burning coolant just not enough to realize

Well then i guess im lucky and will be happy to throw away this l36 intake for my l67 intake lol

Well lucky as in the gasket didn't Completely give way and fill your cylinder up with coolant and hydro lock like mine did but you have been burning coolant and that's not good the shop showed me the crank bearings out of my motor and when you have even little amounts of coolant in the motor like that when you shut the motor off the coolant pools in between the crank and bearings when it sits corrosion happens it eats the bearings and I had major water spots on the bearings or pits just so ya know
