Sold my car and now the motor is blown

so do you have messages saying he put the wrong gas in it? mass is difficult... theres a lemon law on anything over 700$$ ... and they buyer always wins here UNLESS the seller has proof that it was the buyers fault..

yeah i think i do but would have to check to be sure, although most of our conversations were over the phone

If you were seeing 2* KR from 93....
87 octane probably spiked 10* KR. -- car probably blew up on it's way to 60, from 0. ;)

It's both your fault honestly. You should have never sold him the car with a tune on the thin line between Max Power and Risky.

He should have heeded your warning to only use 93.

Sorry missed this post and feel i should respond, the car was tuned last spring, if i remember right it was around 60 degrees outside, when tuned the only kr it saw was right at shifts, and i was told thats normal

so at 60* unless something changed it should be getting 0* kr and at 30* it has 2* kr and if i understand right 2* kr although not optimal is relativity safe, especially considering its due to the temp change and that most of the year the temps would allow for no kr, now drop it down another 35* and a simple mind would assume close to or more then 4* kr considering the pattern (not sure how it all goes so please don't rip my head off if i'm wrong) i don't know about you but to me its common knowledge not to beat on a motor when its cold like that, heck if it was cold enough to freeze i didn't beat on the car becuse i didnt want to have to get it pulled out of a ditch from hitting snow or ice on the road! now in my eyes the final nail in the coffin was the 87 octane and that is something the car NEVER saw while i owned it, you can put partial blame on me but truth is i don't have a tuner and it was tuned safe for the circumstances at the time and the tune was safe for most other circumstances

Try and see if you can get it all in email... I wouldn't even talk on the phone at all. That way its all in writing and can be used as proof

far as I know lemon laws are like they said to cover recurring problems of a new or used vehicle this is not a recurring problem only happened once a (yeah its a technicality ) but also you are NOT a dealer and did not sell it for profit

It depends on the state... here in mass if he sold me that car and then it blew up id have all my money back. Unless he could prove that I beat it and put in the wrong gas. But that's mass I dunno about there.. but here id have a full refund and you'd have a blown motor.

Because MA sucks.

just in case this dude takes you to court, just in case, make sure you talk one more time around another person, recorded...over the phone thru email, just to have some type of proof or i guess pull fuel from the tank and bring it to a lab... pretty much what i'm saying... dont get sued, this country seems to be coming to the age of fools making money by lying and crying

There is only one possibility for what happens next.

We must kill him and burn all evidence.

^ yes.... go to a bar and find the guy named.. mother ****er jones. he's got lots of advice ( horible bosses ) if no one caught that

You guys crack me up! lol anyway i'm not too worried about him taking me to court, i know he knows he caused it and i imagine the machine shop set him straight on what caused that type of damage, also i haven't heard from him once since i met up with him to give him the bumper

How long did you have that set up/tune? If it ran good enough for him to test drive it/ drive it home, drive to the bar, and drove well until he put 87 in, I don't see how that is your fault at all.

The tune and cars set up was almost a year old, the last thing I did to the car was get it tuned and that was April of last year

this is kind of making me nervous. i bought a stock gtp from a girl with 175k on it. anyway, it was out in the middle of mo in a crappy little town. so, as i'm leaving in my own car from her house i stop by the closest gas station to her house. it was a caseys and didn't have 91 so i went down the street to get 91. i asked her a little later what she put in it and she said 87 or 89.

anyway, i drove the car for an hour on test drive and it ran well, very well, actually. i drove it home almost 200 miles and it was great the whole time. i put 91 in before i left town. i have only driven it once or twice in the last week. hasn't shown any symptoms of any problems--engine wise.

she didn't drive the car very much at all. 2000 miles since july. so i'm hoping its ok. i guess we'll see.
