well all we have for the most part in the area is 91 octane so that's what it was "street tuned" for, and yeah i told him about all the mods, he told me he had a few gtps before and knew a bit about them so i went out of my way to prove to him the supporting mods for the pulley, i like to think i did my best to put a healthy good running motor in the car, but a good tune behind it (overkill then street tuned) and lastly give him good instructions on how to take care of the car (aka fuel type to use and so on)
Truth is i was 99.9% sure i was being lied too, but didn't want to look stupid and be wrong after calling him out, at this point other then putting a stock pulley on it, i don't think i could have made it run any safer but when it comes down to it in the worst situations (like the motor was put in) it will still have an issue, i think its fair to say if any of us would have sold our car and the next guy did this there would have been the same outcome, what sucks is how low miles that motor was, it was literally on in a million considering it was never even rebuilt!
thanks for the reassurance guys, my heart sank when i heard about it, im not the type of guy to drop an issue on someone else and not care, im glad to see it was nothing i did nor anything that was pre-existing, when it comes down to it, it was the driver showing off or just running it down the highway at WOT, with the wrong fuel and way too cold of a night
sorry for the long post i wanted to sum everything up!
Edit: on the top part of this post i should specify, for the most part 91 octane is the highest we have, all the stations around here at least have 87 and 89
