so who here has beaten cobalts?

How is this pissing match of a thread still alive?

Good job selling me off of getting another W-body, Nickles. Now I have to look at Cobalts. Grrreeeeeat.

It really doesn't.

I like the groggy sound out a turblowbalt.

Better than any 3800 by far.

You're huffin' as much as white SE guy talking about the Mini up there. No GP really rumbles. If you want rumble, you could have sat in the car that's in my signature...with the idle set @ six and a quarter and poly mounts all around it. With no balance shaft. My Cobalt was also probably worlds SAFER than my Grand Prix is, in fact...it saved my life. I'm sure I would have been beat to a pulp in the Grand Prix if I would have smacked the side of a Silverado @ 55mph. My Cobalt 4 door also had plenty of room, the seats both folded down to create massive amounts of space for dead hookers, I even had two L67's in the back of my Cobalt at one time...do that in a Grand Prix. Also can't beat the mileage, I averaged 40+ in my N/A 'Balt. I'd give up both of my Grand Prix's to have it back because not only was the MPG's a solid standpoint...but it didn't have window regulator issues, blend doors that failed, intake manifolds that warped, intake gaskets that leaked, vacuum leaks all the time, transmissions that fail, sway bars that crack, mounts that burst whenever they feel like it, interior made from LEGO's and pillows from Walmart...need me to go on? I think you get the picture.

Too add, the LSJ/LNF have quite the aftermarket...in fact ZZP even put their time TOWARDS the Cobalt market and took their focus off of the 3800, so what does that tell you?

And, a showdown in an LS4 car vs. a SS/TC Cobalt is laughable. SS/TC Cobalt's can dip even into the mid 13's bone stock...I've seen 13.99999999999999999 out of an LS4 car and the conditions were perfect. Hell, most bolt-on LS4 cars are seen running low to 14 flat 1/4's.

Well i may not know much about cobalts other than they are pretty quick when modded right, but really its just IMO i would prefer the GP over a Cobalt. IDC what the cobalt has over the GP to me all i see is a pontiac car over a chevy car, sort of. There are Parts out there that can make the GP faster than most cobalts with less money. The GP does sort of have a rumble sound, again SORT OF, with a aftermarket exhaust. I think it is just me that heard that from a couple of vids of a GP but i guess the GP does not have that really. Again i like the Cobalt, ive been looking for SS but found out that they are Shift and no Auto, i would like to have a cobalt SS/TC but i Would rather have a GP and mod that. I like the GP waayyy more than the slowbalts and yes i would still call it a slowbalts since well let see a Slowbalt hit a 8 sec 1/4 like a GP has. Either way its all my own opinion that i rather have a GP than a Cobalt, and i am pretty sure if i drive a cobalt i will love it but will never change my mind about having a GP. WHY? you would expect the very Light Cobalt TC to be faster that a Heavy GP GTP, so you would never expect a GP to be able to smoke a Cobalt SS/TC. I have seen lots of Cobalts SS but not many GTPs. SO by all the things you guys would say about the cobalt would make the GTP look like the underdog, thats why i would choose the GTP. AGAIN ALL IMO i just like the GP more Cause i like PONTIAC more. My opinion would be differ if i got a Chevy as my first car and not a GP, but im glad to have a GP. And im done with this pissing match, IMO GP>Cobalts, to you guys it might me Visa Versa but in general we can agree GP/Cobalts > Slowstangs, Hondas, Ricers, etc IMO

Also S/C V8 > S/C V6
If i want a turbo car i would get the Cobalt over the subie, i dont know why but thanks so much for all this info Cause now im starting to like those Cobalts more than the Subies now, in terms of T/C 4 bangers. but IMO GP>Cobalt.
Heres my question to you Cobalt experts, What would be faster modded and not modded the Cobalt SS/TC or the Subies WRX/STI? Also isnt a stock GP GXP as fast or faster than a stock Cobalt SS/TC?

haha whats your mod list?

haha whats your mod list?

Dont got a GTP just a base, would love to get the GTP though. its just IMO i like the GP more, like those Cobalts yes and hate them Mustangs, well more of em not all i dig the older 5.0s. Ill end this pissing match here on my end, i just like GP over cobalts, but in general i would take either one of em or both of em. all this info on the cobalts making me acutally think twie about them little 4 bangers.

EDIT: i would get the cobalt, not over a GTP, but if i wanted to i would get a Cobalt if it had Auto

lulz, "slowstangs".

A GPF kill section thread just isn't complete without some guy with a base model GP calling mustangs slow.

I've owned an L61 and an LD9. GM 4 bangers and the F23 are a combination from hell. Power aside, I wonder how much better the Cobalt SS powertrain is for daily driving.

i average 27mpg combined, mostly highway. the clutch is stiff as F*CK though, and so is the car in general. you feel every bump in the road. probably don't sacrifice as much as some other cars, but you never forget that the car was purpose built

as for sound, i kinda like it. pretty unique, especially when it's cold. when it warms up, all you hear is the injectors and high pressure fuel pump. i wouldn't wanna make it any louder though

as for quarter mile ET's, ZZP's fastest stock turbo LNF ran a 11.62, their fastest LNF was a 10.99. Best LSJ time is a 9.68. considering what was done to their 8.65 second grand prix... i'd say they're doing pretty damn well. i think that list is even dated, i wanna say i remember reading about an LNF cobalt that touched 9.9's.

THere's plenty of cars that will beat mine that I wouldn't own. I bought my daughter a Cobalt. For a teenager it was fine (it was totaled before the temp tags ran out.). To me going by my taste for comfort and looks it was a POS. I rented a car in Vegas and Hurst said we have a nice Cobalt for you. I said no you don't. I rented something nicer.

No one likes the tuna here either. Makes as much sense.

Also S/C V8 > S/C V6

And Now you just went and done the apples to oranges shenanigans. GTFO.

AWD > FWD.

Dragstrip, most of the time the AWD car is going to win. It's common sense, which obviously I see none of here.

And to defunt your "8 sec Cobalt IMO><>M<><><><IMO><><<>IIMMMMOOO> GP" arguement...

Ryan's ZZP LSJ Cobalt Dynos 891 WHP - YouTube

and...

8's? Let's try 7's: 7 Second Lucas Oil Pro Fwd Cobalt Boti 2008 - YouTube Still FWD too...so don't worry.

And stock for stock SS/TC...how about 13.6 @ 104? Stock Cobalt SS/TC 1/4 Mile - YouTube
...stock GP GXP...here's a sweet 14.2 with a couple mods: Grand Prix GXP vs. Taurus SHO 1/4 mile run - YouTube
and if anything else...keep youtubing...those things are slow.

Anything else guy?

Did he really try to say that GTP's are rare? Really?

My opinion, the Grand Prix is a better overall car, but the Cobalt SS is faster. They are both in a completely different class. The Cobalt fits in the rice rocket class whereas a Grand Prix is a family "luxo cruiser." You can't compare the two cars. You can keep saying well a Grand Prix with such and such mods will beat the Cobalt. What if the Cobalt had the same mods? Uh, Cobalt wins.

Its fine to defend your car, but you need to draw the line and realize it has its drawbacks.

Thank you, stealthee. That is the point I tried to make, I guess poorly. I wouldn't drive a Cobalt. If I wanted more HP I'd get a G8 GXP. I know there is no comparison in cost, I wasn't trying to make one.

I will draw the line here and just say in general both cars a great cars and pretty quick for their class. i forget that anything can happen when a car is modded, stock vs stock is what i really would compare and and ya the cobalt can win. When modded anything goes, i would like to get a cobalt since my bro just told me how great the cobalt is but there is not Automatic out there is there?

EDIT: You said a mouth full Stealthee, ill shut it before i make and even bigger fool of me self.
