Whats up? OK so first off i posted last year with help dealing with my car, let me apologize for not updating. The car had a vacuum line that's why it wouldn't turn:th_shakinghead2:. But that was the least of my problems. I had my '12 Tundra stolen the following week...got her back, Thankfully! But thanks a bunch! for all the help from you guys.
So back to the topic, im pulling out the engine and trans for a complete rebuild. Here's the question. I have done extensive research on the route I want to take. I would LOVE to drop a CAM, IC, GEN V, N*, but I'm scared of the drivability issues. What I'm aiming for is being able to get in her and drive for 12hrs without any problems.
This is the plan.
2004 Chevrolet Impala SS 3.8 L67
SD Headers
1.9 Rockers
Lifters & Springs? (Don't know if needed or upgrade while I'm here)
Port & Polish LIM, SC
Spark plug Wires
CAI
N* TB? (Would it be worth?)
CAM?
IC?
GEN V?
Alum pan & valve covers
Is there anything else I missed that needs to be considered while the engine and trans is out? Money is not an issue, been saving, but I just want to get the most out of my engine HP wise without ruining drivability(isn't everybody?) Again, sorry for sound such a noob. I understand that stock rockers with custom cam, probs with SD headers, etc.
TIA

Unless you have your heads worked over you can't run a cam and high ratio rockers at the same time. Clearance issues. If I had my rathers I would go with the cam. Better whole shot with the n*. If I could go back in time I would run Gen5. Go double roller timing chain while your at it.

Skip everything and go turbo. You'll make more power.

XP cam has no drivability problems. Even at -40C. Idle speeds are set @ 675 RPM on Park/Neutral and 800 RPM in Gear. Never had any issues.

There is ZERO drivability issues with a s1x/xp cam
i can only think of 1 or 2 mods that would
Yes sir. I have read your review and opinion with this CAM. I am def considering this bad boy.

I understand that stock rockers are best for a s1x/xp/custom cam. Should i go back with the original rockers that came off or buy a whole new stock set? I guess would have to reconsider upon inspection of original rockers...? Prob be best to replace. I def want to run a GenV, N*

I dont know why, but Turbo scare me! lol
"IM TURBO MAN!"-in my Arnold voice lol had to do it
Guess just never had the pleasure of messing with one.

Turbo is honestly the way to go. It's just removing a couple exhaust pieces, bolting on new exhaust pieces, installing the turbo, some injectors, a tune, and then save for a trans because your newly found power will destroy the current one. LOL

Yes sir. The trans will be rebuilt or ill buy one ready for my applications. What supporting mods would a turbo require? thanks

You literally could bolt a turbo on a basically stock car and make tons of power. Stock heads and a ST2 cam GMR Badass made well over 300whp in a GTP. I think it was about 350whp but it's been awhile.

I did an S/C build like yours made OK power but got bored easily so I went turbo. I love it. Current setup is
Engine:
T67 Turbo (Precision 6776)
XP Cam (Going ST5 shortly)
Stock Bottom End
Stock Heads ( Heavily ported race heads on the way)
115# Injectors
E85
GFB Boost Controller

Transmission:
1in GMR Chain
1200hp Aermet IS
Chrome moly input shaft
TEP Stage 2 rebuild kit

and a set of MT ET Streets for good measure.

Pushing around 25 lbs of boost and making around 550 wHP, after i install the heads and cam things will get even more insane.

Go turbo.

That's really impressive! I'm def going to read a little but more. You're set is awesome. Who did the tranny work?

Did the mexicans steal it??

Because some guy on the truck board that I'm a member of who lives down in houston , his silverado was stolen for 2 weeks. They found it running in a field and it was just trashed on the inside, they were running mexicans in from the boarder. Ripped out the rear seats and everything. Oh and a neat thing about the PK3 keys is that once you start it it will run but if you turn it off and try it again without the key it won't start, so his truck was running for 2 weeks straight and they piled on 7,000 miles in that time.

Pretty crazy.
