Hello! Got a 98 gtp I recently bought..with right under 195,000 miles. So I went to Advanced today to get some codes pulled. Here's what i got.. P0741, P0742, and P0756. Also got P0303 cyn. 3 misfire, but i don't believe that is transmission related. Another thing is, I checked the tranny fluid and it was metallic grey and had a burnt smell to it. So my question is.. What kind of repairs am I looking at? Or am i looking at getting another transmission or rebuilt? :th_angry2:
 


Yeah i kind of figured. It's acting pretty funny. It will rarely get out of second. It shudders and jerks sometimes, especially from a dead stop. RMPs don't really bounce around though. Drove it to the store yesterday morning.. got back in it and it stalled out as soon as i would put it in reverse. Did that about 3 times before it would actually engage. Didn't stall out on me today but now it seems to be making a whine noise, more notably at 30+ mph.
 
Hoenstly with the amount of codes the transmission is throwing and the state of the fluid inside, its well on its way out.

I'd look at a used junkyard transmisson or get it fully rebuilt.
 
Thanks for the info! Probably just going to swap it out for a used one. Seems to be the best bet.

What other vehicles can i look for in the junkyard that would be compatible?

You could probably get some life out of it yet with a fluid and filter change and a bottle of lucas stop slip. It's worth a shot at least.
