So, how bad is this?

I looked at the tranny dip stick to check the color of the fluid at the dealership while I was going over the car, but I didnt think to check the level accurately.

Been driving the car about a month now and it made a weird shift tonight when I punched it a little on the way home, bothered me enough to check the level on the fluid.

So, just how bad is it to have the fluid over filled? Cause it was quite a bit beyond full, and there were bubbles on the dipstick and that just spells bad things to me.
They had the oil considerably overfilled too before I changed it myself. What is wrong with these guys...

Was planning to do fluid and filter real soon so I guess I'll have to bump it up the schedule a little.

Yes yes and yes, just got home from a 20 minute drive on the interstate, level surface too.

Did 3 checks and they all came out the same.

not sure if its "that" bad to be over filled
the right level is always better
transmissions are a weird thing some of the old cars in work that have been sitting for years and i go to start them up and put them in gear they just wont move
thats the only thing, then you put fluid in them and then they will move
but a bad shift would really be the cause of too much or to little tranny fluid IMO

Bubbles normally means it has too much fluid in it, but really it might be only 1-2 pints over, because I think the trans dip stick is in pints.

Just do the pan drop and filter change like you had planned.

So I havnt had time to get the whole job done but I loosened the pan bolts to let some fluid out today, I guess I drained about a quart or maybe a little less... The level is just about in the correct area on the dipstick now.

Before there was a long delay when I'd move the shifter to R and when it would actually go into gear, like almost 3 or 4 full seconds. That is gone, it's nearly instant now. Also the shifting feels better and my cruising rpm on the interstate is lower, it was like 2300-2500 at 70mph which I thought was high but I figured maybe it was the difference induction or the tapshift tranny, but now it's like 2k at those same speeds.. Hello mpgs!

Just gotta find the time to do the full fluid and filter change...
