Slow labored cranking

Today when I tried to turn my car on after fueling up, it would not start. I only got 1 click so I tapped on the starter with a hammer. I got the car to eventually start after a slow crank. The car has started probably 5 times since the first non-start, but every start has been a very slow crank taking about 2-4 seconds until the engine fires up. Also, I noticed after the car starts up the radio clock resets to 1:00. Also, with the key in the ON position but not all the way cranked, the car has full power with the dash lights and radio powering on. I check the battery terminals and everything seems to be clean and snug. Can anyone please provide any help with this issue? Is it the starter itself or battery? Any suggestions?

slow crank = bad battery.

no crank = bad starter.

loss of voltage and dying when running = alternator.

either your alternator is not charging the battery correctly.....or your battery is shot. Most likely it is the battery as the car runs fine once the alternator(and motor) is running. Get a new battery........you could go to an autozone or some other parts store and have them test your alternator for you..........then you would no for sure........I would bet it is the battery though........

Yeah it's strange. The car has been slow cranking for about 2 weeks now, but it starts eventually. I would bet it is the battery also as I noticed the horn is a bit dimmer when I set the alarm. Thanks fellas. I appreciate it.
