Slight knocking and idle jumping from 500-1500 then dies

I started my car up this morning and heard a little bit of knocking, I pulled it into the garage and after putting it in park the idle started going from 500-1500 rpm and it would slowly get lower and lower then died. I gave it about 45 minutes then started it again, no knocking. So I pulled out into the driveway and put it into park then the idle started jumping again. I gave it a little gas and it seemed to quit after running for a minute and being revved a little. Weird.. Any ideas?

Sounds like an exhaust leak. Could be the rear manifold to down pipe gasket. As far as the rough idle that could be a few things maf, fuel pressure regulator, vac leak, just to name a few.

So on my way to work I discovered that at around 55mph it'll jump rapidly from around 1500rpm to 1600rpm and back down three or four times then stop. Then heading home I caught it in the act. Video coming soon.

Pretty sure thats what it's called, anyways on my car whenever it got down to an idle it would start to surge and jump around, may not be your problem but it's something to look into.

IAC isn't used when cruising for the most part.

Look to ignition related causes. Isn't that cone filter new? DRy or oiled? If oiled...clean the maf.

Dry filter. Double check your plug wires. I'm not sure they are clippedin all the way. I never checked them after you guys moved them

dsmuts--

Is that an o-ring that goes on the plastic piece he broke off the top of his blower?

If so, I'll rumage around in my tool box to see if I have a spare o-ring that matches that size.

Ace needs a toolbox for Christmas. Dan, if you're in twenty bucks, so am I, to get him a set of wrenches and sockets and other odds and ends.

Your wish has been granted. Best of luck figuring that out and logging back in.

Dan..or one of you guys with his number. Let him know.. will ya
