Serious Advice Only (22x8.5) Rims

You're missing the point. You don't even plan on keeping the car so there is NO POINT in going through all this crap to add overly large wheels. My buddy has 22's on his Tahoe and they are almost too large for it. He has almost $1500 just into tires. You are not going to get that money back when you sell the car.

Really? That would be the first Tahoe I've seen that comes anywhere near almost having trouble with 22s. 20s + 38" tires + lift is where it's at in the SUV world imo. Either that or 30" rims.

Wow, seriously guys? Mwinters, knock it off and stop crapping in his thread. He came to ask advice of people who know wheels, none of which you offered. So zip it.

pretty sure i gave him some advice that 22's will ruin the trans and will turn away potential buyers. and you are gunna tell me to knock it off as opposed to 1000GRAND?? lol wow, i dont know how i can be seen as worse than him.

You missed what I was trying to convey. I didn't mean that he could barely fit the 22's I meant that it barely pulls off the look with 22's. A Grand Prix with A LOT shorter tire will look like absolute crap with 22's.

This thread is for the lolz. Put the 22's on the car, expect that you're going to have to change out your transmission and also expect that you will have to sell the wheels separately from the car so keep your stockers close by. Cheers.

Actually, 97-03 GPs hold 22s without much trouble. 'Tis rather common down here in Arkansas. I know for a FACT that 235/30/22 will fit with no problem (assuming offset and everything else is correct... I had this size on mine with some rims off of a Deville and had no problems at all), although rolling the fenders is of course highly recommended. Of course it will be a rough ride, and it's a polarizing look... some like it, some hate it. Personally, I love the look. Other members have let you know about the obvious supporting mods... trans cooler, upgraded brakes, steel lines... so that's pretty much that. Assuming that he'll have to take the 22s off to sell it isn't entirely accurate... that depends on his area and when he chooses to sell it. If he holds on to it until financial aid refund time or tax time, he'll be able to get off of it for a nice price, 22s and all.

Great job GPF.

Where's the problem? It's not my fault the idiots took up majority of space. I told the trolls to get scatter along and they didn't, so... I dealt with it. I asked for help/advice and some provided very helpful answers and some provided their negative opinions. So yea for a first time user, GREAT JOB GPF.

I'm attempting to express how disappointed I am at how this turned out.

Should have been a more positive experience.

The rims i have are 8.5 in width, does that mean the tires I would have to get would be 215/.../... or would they have to be wider.?? Because if the ones you said were no problem (235/30/22), wouldn't that make the size of your rims, in width, "9".?
I appreciate your input.

You also fed the trolls, never do that

Youll be able to run a 235 tire on a 8.5 wide wheel no problem, you could go wider if you had the room, but id stick with the 235.

but the trolls who have nothing of value to contribute can go fck off. Keep ya narrow-minded opinions to ya damn selves.

How rude. Use google next time you want advice champ.

Where I live, the car would sell in a heartbeat. That's where I live though. Every place is different. I understand the need for telling him that it's gonna kill his trans and more than likely lessen the value of his car but every place has a different taste in vehicles. Out here in the DMV I see caprices with candy paint on 26's everyday. Those cars sell easy for 6-7 grand out here. Is it stupid? In my opinion yes but that's me. If ya like the big rims bro, go for it. Just post pics when your done.

You live in chocolate city.

He didn't want the advice we offered. He just wanted to push the wagon wheel agenda.

Disqualified.
