Seized 3800 Engine

I blew a gasket somewhere i think, oil shot out of the bottom while i was on the highway engine seized. Thats not the point of this thread though. What other cars have 3800 engines in them? Will i need to make any custom motor mounts or do they all come the same? Mines is a supercharged 3.8 gtp too if that matters. (I always thought you can just thrown them on and take them off as you want with the right belt and stuff.) maybe im wrong.

You can pull the mounts off your motor and swap them. Any sc series 2 will work. I have one for sale

Cars:
96+
Bonneville SSEi
Park Avenue Ultra
Riviera (SC version, no model name distinction for SC)
Olds LSS

97-03 (Late to the party)
Grand Prix GTP
Regal GS

04 (Nearly senior citizens)
Impala
Monte Carlo

Then there is another possibility.
04+ Grand Prix SC has an L32. It's mostly the same. You'd need a throttle body adapter and a few other goodies..but it does drop in and can work.

No thanks tryna stay under 130k mark

miles are just a number on a 3800. I know a few people locally with GPs and Regals with the 3800 closing in on 300,000 miles. My goal is 300, and im at 229,730 as of 4/12. About time for a trans fluid exchange though.

Hey boost i found an engine. But its not supercharged. Can i just swap the supercharger and tranny on it from mine? And what would i need to look out for when buying a used engine? Its my first time buying one by myself.

if you put a sc on a n/a car you will pop the engine it will be a ticking time bomb but hey its not my car so GO FOR IT if you dare. I thought of that same route and then a asked my local machine shop who has rebuilt a few of these engines and he sayed no way on the na plus sc sway it does all kinds of things to that poor motor.

You do realize there's several guys that've done top swap successfully without blowing their **** up right? It's called staying with the stock pulley and getting a tune and have something to monitor your a/f as well as something to scan and don't constantly beat on the car.

Rods tend to be weaker on the N/A but as long as your not going all out on modifying it and your not constantly beating on it it should be fine but as with everything that you modify you take the chance of something going wrong and having to spend some money and or look for other options.

you and your shop are sadly misinformed.

top swap is the heads and lim, and blower added to a a N/A block, you "need a tune" and cant run as small a pulley, headers are pretty much a requirement as well. (because its high compression) truth is they make a bit more HP over a stock s/c engine. and dont blow up if tuned properly.

theres a number of guys here, and everywhere else running top swaps.

Yeah prpbably expensive if you dont have the s/c pulley and stuff already. Ive already got it and all the stuff to go with i was just asking if i can swap it. I dont race or mod the engine I just like telling people its supercharged lol.
