Second valve cover breather

So i got a valve cover gasket leak on the back side of our sideways monster ...i was wondering has anyone ever tryed to put the front side valve cover on the back? did it fit? and would having a second valve cover breather double the cooling power ...or just create a giant oil mist that your windshield wipers arent ready for lol

Can't say I've tried, but why would you move the front valve cover to the back? Just replace both VC gaskets/bolt grommets and call it good. No more oil leak and less of chance of introducing other issues.

You can run two fronts w/o issues. However.. you shouldn't need to because the crankcase is open to both heads and the valley is open all the way down as well as both heads are. Soooo in reality there's so much open area that you should be fine.

Irun the front valve cover on the back so the oil fill tube was in the back making the front valve cover have a cleaner look. It was kind of annoying when it came to topping off the fluid after an oil change but it looked way better IMO and works fine.

lol the front valve cover has the oil fill hole .....instead of the cap you can put a breather there to let air into the crankcase or let the gases flow out ....cools the oil a tiny bit......i was just saying could i put the same valve cover with the oil fill hole that the front has in the back (meaning i now have two valve covers with the oil fill front and back) and put a breather on the backside one has well ....and do you guys think i would be introducing any new problems

thanks bill i didnt know that ....im 8 months new to grand prixs and it doesnt help that i gotta learn what i got more than what i can do ...bought her off i shop guy who already heavy modded it like xpz cam level mod so im learning as i go

the point is not to have an intentional vacuum leak.

if you have a valve cover breather on the car without having an intercooler on the car (that blocks the PCV passages) then you intentionally made your car run bad.

it does not COOL anything.

He already has a breather, aka vacuum leak. Maybe it was tuned for...

I do agree with Bio,
1. It does not cool a damn thing
2. Having a second will not make anything work any better.

my pcv valve has been deleted ...i have a short stack intercooler ......i just thought it might look cool ....totally get wat you mean by it not cooling sh*t

leave the rear one alone, then.

in fact, you should make yourself a catch can setup with the front valve cover and route it back to the intake post-MAF, that way you don't have a vacuum leak. then get it retuned.

would have never known to do that .....thanks .....what is the symptoms of having a vacuum leak...im sure ive been staring it in the face for a while now

the fueling will be off because there is unmetered air entering the engine.

you can band aid it all you want, but having the system sealed is the only way to have it be "correct".
