Rusting Help

I just baught brand new tips made from chrome plated and polished steel. They are starting to rust on the inside which isnt bothering me, but i already have a tiny amount of rust on the outside. i live in michigan and the winter is right around the corner, rust heaven, and i drive this car during the winter. is there anything i can do/put on the tips to help prevent the rust? heres a picture of the tips so you know what im talking about. thanks for the help!

put wd40 on the rust? and how often should i do this?

I'm not sure how often but it'll keep the rust at bay i'd say once a week or so.

my tips on my truck used to get funky too, i used chrome polish, and waxed them regularly, not much you can do to stop the rust from coming back, cept for keeping them nice and clean, chrome polish will remove the rust spots.
