Rust Bucket '98 GTP - Stiegemeier GenV/E85 - Video on pg. 5

Re: Someone smack me - My rust bucket project '98 GTP

So, been a minute since I updated this thing...

Crested 223k, still running strong. Rust a plenty...and rear strut towers have rusted through...so I've given up. Needs hubs and tie rods super soon...but haven't really cared to put four parts on it that cost half as much as the car.

Dual zone climate control has since shorted out, AC doesn't work. It's got a bad idler or tensioner...not sure, just waiting for it to chuck the belt. Driver's side window hasn't rolled down in some time, and it was 119* heat index two days ago...so last night I pulled the already half busted door panel off, and removed the window. Rear seat, rear panels, speaker deck, and everything has been removed with all the trunk material. Tires were rotted, and found some off an HHR for super cheap...so it's rocking 205/55/16's.

But more for speeds sake, a ported GenV from Stiegemeier has been tossed on (got a pretty solid free deal on it, lol), MPS (right now rocking a 3.8" until we get all the fueling figured out and a PCM that's unlocked by HPT), Lucas 42's, Intense Poly uppers (squares and circles), and a yet to be installed 3" ZZP downpipe (car just has a u-bend delete now)...and switched to E85 (while still having a quarter tank of pump junk 91 mixed in). Right now it's commanding 11.2:1 AFR, and 20* timing. Runs pretty decent for a $400 car, lol. Plans are new fuel filter, actual in car HP Tuning, and as small of a pulley as I can get away with, so probably something in the 3.4" range.

Just gonna drive it until it falls apart...which might be next week.

"Which might be next week."

LOL

I love how the car had a bazillion issues, but the mind of a GP owner disregards them and adds go fast parts.

Car needs new tie rods, so I'll install a Gen V.

GenV was free fitty, tie rods are $20 a piece.

LOL.

But yeah, priorities. I know. I put new hubs and tie rods on the GXP, and they weren't great, but they're probably worlds better than the ones on it...so I might just toss those on and see if it helps it out, lololoolll.

My 97 gtp is at 240k and has custom billet oak strut mounts
use a heavy non detergent oil to saturate rust spots to slow down oxidation preferably you do this after making surin wet s*** for a couple as in no driving in wet s*** for a couple weeks
