RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Less Slow Now

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

I dont like taking the housing off after i had to fix the threads on the LIM. Im scared I'll rip them out or crosdthread it again

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

I do now lol. I did that and still crossthreaded a bolt on the rear wheel hub on the monte. My luck tho lol, that ebrake assembly is such a pain in the ass to get back together when I was putting it on.

I'm going to look into having this spare lim hot tanked or something just to get it clean, coolant passages have dex film on them and I'd rather not have that in the LIM whenever I do that.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

My 06 lim had that film, I just left it.

Run the thermostat bolts all the way in by hand, then the ratchet is just for snugging it up

Stubby impact did great today, glad I bought it well worth the money it fit into tight spots when I was doing the brakes on the LaCrap today. Took lug nuts off like nothing.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

Welp, about 6k miles and my driver side reman napa axle clicks or its the hub but pretty certain its the axle, maybe explains my vibrations. So far my experience is that napa remans are absolute dogsh*t, 2 passanger axles that leak and now this one. Unless it get super worse I'm not going to worry till spring, I might warranty it, get a used low mile stocker, or get something from advanced,AZ, orileys. Im undecided as yet.

What happened to the original axle? Ripped boot or noise? All these aftermarket failures makes replacing the boots worth it for sure, stock axles are pretty tough.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

Kyle, you might want to see if theres a CV shaft rebuilder (or driveshaft shop) in your area. There used to be such a thing. Sometimes a specialist is the answer. I bet the offroad guys around there know who to use.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Its slow

Original axles had slung all the grease out before I bought it at 122k, at like 155k I was getting vibration when I hit dips in the road and when lots of weight in the car. They were used as core for the napa ones.
