Running a GTP without belt?

So I am trying to find a gtp for under 3,000. Anyways there is one around my area, and the owner isn't running the belt on the supercharger because he didn't feel like replacing it. Sounds really weird to me but I was curious if this would cause any problems. I would think it would make it run rich. I'm not really interested in it but was wondering. Thanks.

Not sure about the answer to your question, but...

If the guy "didn't feel like" replacing a sub $30 part, what else did he "not feel like doing" with the car????

It can be run without a belt, to answer your question.

Should you buy a car from a retard like that?

Doing this would also decrease your gas millage significantly.

And did he not feel like replacing the belt? or is the S/C broken?

Agree with those guys. I know a chic who never put oil in her SC cause didn't know! The SC went out she thought something MAJOR was wrong with the car and sold a 01 with like 60K miles on it for 1000!!! The guy ran it without the SC belt then fixed the SC and sold it for like 5K! lmao.

I'd tell him to put the belt on and start it so you know what your getting into when you buy it. Make sure to video tape the first start up too ;)

I know quite a few people around the area who take the SC belt off for winter. Just so they dont have all the torque to spin the tires.

your fine without running the belt...just ungodly slow. a 4cyl honda could beat ya....ask me how I know.

I had a idler pulley shear off recently, just replaced it, and fitted the belt, but when we fired it up there was oil coming out of the supercharger pulley. Guessing a seal has worn, is it an easy fix?

Yeah, I agree with prev posters. Something ain't right. Bad seal and probably nose bearing on the blower. Computer controls the air/fuel mix, so I doubt running belt-less will hurt anything.
