Results Are In! Turbo GTP

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

When are you getting it dyno'd?

Sometime this week. Date is no set in stone...since I'm local I just told DynoBrian to let me know what works for him. As soon as I know I'll post it up and if anyone local wants to see it up on the dyno.

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

Dyno is set for noon on Friday....numbers and hopefully video will be posted up by the weekend

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

344/372

Exhaust in these cars generally don't sound like crap when it has a turbo to go through before it exits. It's quieter, you could just run 3" back to the y, without a cat, without resonator and probably not notice much of a difference sound wise but performance wise you would notice a gain. Going from stock catback to open downpipe is where you really can notice a gain for cheap. I prefer quiet as well though.

The only other thing I would look into is valve float on the 105's in high boost, could be something to keep an eye on.

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

I was shocked at how much is drove like and sounds like stock. I know I'm going againt the grain compared to what most people do with a turbo setup but I'm not out there to break into the top 5hp cam chart or anything like that. The car truely is going to be my daily driven car that's a true sleeper. Once the car is off the dyno it's not going to see the high boost and will be run off the WG spring for 99% of it's life.

Whenever the resonater starts to rust out and starts leaking then I'll address some of my options at that time. Cartuning downpipe is 2.5" and it a catted piece...I really don't have any intentions of changing that unless the cat goes bad.

With the 105# being brand new I hope to not see valve float on the dyno but could still happen..Once they have been in there a while and have several thousands of miles on them I'm sure at high boost levels valve float would be preset.

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

Turbo Blanket, Boost Controller, and new Air Filter put on and ready for the dyno tomorrow.

Tomorrow night I should be posting up video and pics of results.

I never posted my guesses but here they are.....
320whp @10psi
380whp @15-16psi

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

Don't know much about turboed cars, but I sure as hell can't wait to see er go!

Re: Dyno Guessing Time!! Turbo GTP

All right, the results are in guys.

284.6whp/413.1wtq @ 9.5 psi
343.3whp/514.4wtq @ 14 psi

I was hoping for numbers to be a little higher but no big deal. The exhaust is currently the limiting factor and I'm fine with that at this point. The car is still on the stock trans and sounds like a totally stock car at this point. Down the road....Built trans, 3" off-road exhaust, and of course E85. But for now it's set up to be a fun DD.

Here is the video of one of the pulls @ 14psi

damn we were all off lol but I wasnt too far off on the torque for the 9psi. Lotta torque on that beast, not bad man.

What gear was the car in for the dyno pull?

Interesting to see that you made 284. When comparing my dyno numbers on 10PSI with a M90 block off you still made 18whp more. Now im curious whoch was the biggest contributing factor-Cam, compression, or UIM setup. Regardless, those numbers aren't terrible and you can always get more power later if you choose to. I wish we had a few other guys with CT kits post up their numbers so we could have another comparison of data. Bet 14PSI is fun as hell though. :)

Not bad. Thought HP would be higher but u did do impressive #s with the torque!
Willing to bet the high torque numbers are convertor flash. His numbers shouldn't be that far apart from his horsepower.

All dyno pulls were done in 3rd gear with converter locked. And yes, with anything with a torque converter the torque number is inflated. Have been told by Jason (Hitman) that 75% of that number is roughly the actual wheel torque.

Like I said, I think there is a lot still left on the table. HV3, P-log, and cutout are always options down the road. With that I'll be able to run more boost and more timing and think I'd be able to hit the 400whp mark on pump gas. After I finish putting together a built trans together then I'll start thinking about my future options.

Nice "stock" car :D

Intercooler is even misted with black primer...All I need to do is paint the clamps for the IC piping and you'd never know there was an Intercooler hiding in there. Sleeper look is what I'm always about.

Nice #'s! Gotta love sleepers. My GT will be one soon enough, but not to this extent.

Some small mods and you should hit your goal for sure.
