Resonator delete or no Resonator delete

Exhaust on my Grand Prix is all stock and one thing I was considering was replacing my Resonator with a straight pipe. I've heard that the delete causes a lot of drone while others say it only does that with aftermarket exhaust and not with stock exhaust. Out of this all I really want is what tiny power it may add and more importantly a more aggressive sound. Hoping someone might have some experience with a resonator delete.

It won't add any power at all. If you do delete it put a glasspack in there instead. It'll be a little louder but not raspy.

headers would be what you want then. cat backs not adding any HP at stock HP. its good for up to 350 hp.

always use a res or glass pack stock or after market cat back.

My gtp has the rez. deleated threw the stock mufflers and it's still pretty quiet, no drone. However, I'm still use to my last GP that had Flowmasters and was quite loud. Cut the rez out weld a pipe in and keep your stock mufflers. If you don't like the sound then buy a glasspack.

The PO of my car had removed the resonator, and I didn't even know until having to change out the cat. No drone and sounded stock.

The rotten seam in one of the mufflers is way louder than the lack of a resonator. :)

For power, you'll want headers/PLOG and DP.

Those will also deepen the sound of the exhaust, and barely make it louder. Deleting the resonator wont net any power gains, and will cause it to be extremely raspy with aftermarket mufflers, and drone like crazy with loud mufflers.

Mostly for sound, you'll be wanting mufflers. Consensus for the 3800 is Borla XS. I run headers, 3" catalytic, stock cat-back but with Summit turbo mufflers. Sounds good at idle, but is nice and quite above 2k.

I kept the stock resonator saw no reason to remove it..

Kept the whole exhaust stock for awhile w/ just Borla XS (stock manifolds, stock resonator etc) and loved it

Now SDs, stock resonator, Borla XS, VS cam and I love it even more thought about going 3" from the Y back in the future but who knows

Figured those telling me it added power had to be off on that. Didn't make a lot of sense... Definitely loving these suggestions

Not sure if you're in an inspection state, but the catalytic will definitely kill sound. Mine was quite a bit louder and slightly raspier before the 3" catalytic went on.
