Replacing Windshield wipers...

I have a 2005 GP GT and I can't figure out how to change my wipers... I tried to lift them up but they hit the hood so I tried to pop the hood and do it from there and still hits the hood. I also tried to turn my wipers on until the were going straight up and then turn the key off but they still go back down... How do I replace this suckers?
 


Pull it up and pop it off or take it to AutoZone or advance and they do it for free if you bought them there
 
No a friend gave me a pair he got for free from auto, im pretty sure its the right size too. Not quite sure what you mean by pull it up and pop it off. Ive done many wipes on other vehicles but this one is different. If I lift up it will hit the hood and only goes up like 2 inches before hitting the hood. I've tried pull it up while the hood was up and it still hits the hood... i've tried to turn wipers on and shut off half way up and they just go back down....

What am I doing wrong? I don't want to pull up the windshield wiper and take the chance of damaging the wiper motor.
 
2" is plenty of room to pull the wiper off. Just pull up on the wiper arm and pull the blade off.
