Replaced Power Steering pump, now making noise.

Today I decided it would be a good day to do the Power Steering pump for some reason. The first time taking everything off then back together took me a while. I followed each step perfectly, When I first started the car to check how everything is, a bunch a fluid was just spilling out from the resovior-pump connection. I knew excactly what was wrong. The pump had no O-ring -.-.

Took it all apart instantly, took about 10 minutes. Installed the O ring from my old pump put everything back together with a breeze. Got the technique down from the first time, such a pita.

Started the car, no leaks but this awfull grinding sound is coming from the pump. I re-bleed the system again and the same noise is happening. I checked my fluid and it low. (Lost a most of my fluid from the first experience).

Could low fluid be causing this noise.

Its not just a whine, its a rumble lol. O'reillys closes at 10 so im just waiting for a ride for more fluid. I sure hope it fixes the problem though.

Alright, Got some more power steering fluid filled it up. Bleed it. Ran the car and turned left to right. The noise did get a little more quiet. Bleed it again. Tightened up the bolts on the pump a little more. Its quiet but I can still hear the noise. It sounds like a bad bearing grinding.

Took it for a test run, the steering is a little better. I thought there would have been a bigger difference.

I can hear the pump wine as I give it gas, its quiet but I can hear it and feel a vibration in the steering wheel. And when I do turn all the way to the left or right, you can definately hear the pump and feel it.

Did I get a bad pump? Did I install it wrong?

This always happens to me. Grr.

But its the pump making the noise, My old pump was doing better than this new one.

How difficult is it to replace rack and pinion?

Hmm, not sure If I am up to doing that. I'm still not really convinced that is the problem. I guess I will tinker aroud a little and try to solve this small annoying problem.

Rack replacement isn't to bad i thought it would be a lot worse than it was. The first time it took me about 2 hours with changing the tie rods. Second time about 30 min.
