Removing Supercharger Snout Oil

Depends on your driving habits IMO.

GM kinda says to never change the fluid since its self contained, and "maintenance free" they are merely looking forward to selling and installing a complete new supercharger for you later down the road.

Some say every 30K some say every 50K some say every 100K.

With me, its yearly regardless.

With the GF's GTP its yearly as well, but her GTP is her daily driver, so she rakes on at least 20K maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe.

I also do mine yearly. I just checked the s/c oil in a friend of mines Regal GS last night, and hers was BLACK. She has damn near 200K miles on the GS and I'm pretty sure it's never been done.

Oh, BTW I have s/c oil remover kits as well, if anyone is interested.

I went to walmart and bought a turkey baster for like $1. Then stopped at the auto parts store and got a foot of rubber hose that would fit over the end of the baster and still small enough to fit into the snout hole. That was less than $1. Works great!

Im gonna do that

well i'd like to clean mine. im at 56k and never done it....what type of oil and how much do u put back in?

I recommend using and only using GM Supercharger oil.

GM Part Number = 12345982

Those are a 4oz. bottle. You will need two bottles to fill your M90.

I have never had a GenIII or GenV M90 take anything less than 2 whole bottles unless you under fill it.

The fill line is the bottom of the threads of the fill plug hole in the snout.

Therefor, 8 oz. give or take a little is what they normally take since the measurements on the bottles from GM are not always perfect. Some times you have some extra...some times you need some more.

Yeah, just a few weeks ago I had to change out my s/c oil, and it took me both bottles, and it barely touched the bottom of the threads. That stuff smells good.

What can be used as a temporarary oil to top it off while I wait for my dealer to get the GM oil? I'll change it after the GM stuff comes in, but I need to top it off now.

Nothing, you will have to wait for the sc oil or try a different dealer. Dont put nothing but supercharger oil in it

I have to drive it while I'm waiting. No other dealer has it in stock either. I'll be putting about 500miles on it before the dealer has the GM stuff in. It's probably about 2/3 full. I think the fill plug seal is leaking. I just want to top it off for that 500miles & then I'll change it all out. Surely there is something that can be used in a pinch. ???

Well if you're really stuck, take the s/c belt off. It will be a turtle but atleast you wont be screwing it anymore. Dont put anything BUT s/c oil in their even if its a small amount. Pretty easy to pop the belt off

x2 i had to drive with my sc belt off one time because i had a bad idler pulley....the L67 is an out of breathe pig without boost lol

has anyone ever emptied out the SC oil and cleaned it out with some type of cleaner before inserting new oil? Is there ever any type of build up or gunk in there......sludge or anything?

Here we go

Remember they are older documents but I called and verified thru GM that they still stand by these documents as replacements for the fluid. You just need to replace the fluid more often, as you would expect with motor oil.
