Regal vs. Grand Prix springs

I'm looking into getting some OEM replacement Regal springs because they're variable rate all the way around, where as the GP only got variable rates up front, and the replacements are sold the same way. However, I was wondering if there's any ride height difference between the 2. I don't want to get Regal springs, and find that they make the GP sit x" higher than stock, but I can't find anything addressing this in search.

TMK the Regals look the same droopy butt as GP. However the Intrigue springs are known to boost the back end up and make it look correct.

Well....I really don't want to go any higher than the stock GP already sits. I just figured if the Regals have the same height, I'd prefer the variable rate springs they came with.

just buy vogtlands already foo.

never seen a torsen diff. this site should have vogtlands tho, remember a dood bought them couple weeks ago.

The intigue springs will get rid of the saggy ass problem and give the grand prix an even stance.

Isn't part of the "saggy ass" problem due to old/high mileage springs? I've seen plenty of stock suspension GPs that have an even stance. That's all I'm looking to replicate. These cars already sit too high as it is from the factory. I don't want either end sitting any higher.

Negative. As much as I'd like to drop the car a tad, I don't want to deal with everything that goes into lowering it. Even with a drop as mild as the Vogtlands, I've seen plenty of negative feedback as far as bouncy ride, and premature deterioration of KYB-GR2s, and I will not pay 2x as much for AGX' to last just slightly longer. I just can't justify putting that kind of money into the suspension of these cars.

make coilovers then. its the only true way youre going to get an even stance. no spring or combination of springs will do it for you since the fenders are shaped differently.

Yes, the GPs ass sag is due to old springs that don't support the weight any longer. Replace the springs with new stock and it will raise it back up to like new. In fact, any new w-body spring is going to do that, raise the rear back up to where it was new.

The problem with putting new GP springs on is that when you put any kind of weight back there, it will sag down, ride crappy, look stupid, and wear out the springs again, just like the originals did. If you run the variable rate spring, you can put more weight in it before it sags, keeping ride quality in check, and not wearing out the springs as fast.

I went through the same thing you are. I didn't want to lower. So I bought new GP springs from GM, but didn't like that they still sagged with weight. So I bought Intrigue springs and put them in. The ride height was back up to normal and it didn't sag with some weight in the back. Much nicer for a daily driver. In fact, I am going to put intrigue springs in my regal.

I need to buy rear struts and springs for my 2000 GTP. The rear sags BAD with a passenger to the point it squeaks bad over bumps. Do I order Intrigue rear struts with springs? Monroe's or something?

I ordered my Intrigue springs directly from GM.

There are gabriel shocks for Intrigue in a ready-to-install setup (new springs already installed) for under $150 ea. The description says they are progressive. You think I should go with that?

The struts are interchangeable throughout the various w-body platforms. I have seen the springs on rock auto. You can also contact morad to get you some used rear springs.

Gabriel's are crap. You get what you pay for. You are better off with KYB's or even the monroe's.

I'll go for the Monroe's then. It's the wife's daily driver, so it doesn't have to be a top dollar handling car. It just has to ride decent, and I want it to act right if someone rides in the back seat.

....if I won't fork over the money for AGX', what makes you think I'd pay for coil-overs? And I'm not concerned with even stance. All I'm asking is whether the Regal springs would provide the same OEM/factory ride height as the GP, or if they were purposely designed higher/lower than the GPs.

Yeah, that much I figured. Even when people change struts, they rarely change springs, so it only stands to reason that as these cars are getting up their in years and mileage, a lot of them will sag.

I gathered that as well from my research, thus why I was inquiring about the Regal variable rate springs. My only concern, which was the whole point of starting this thread, is if the ride height of the Regal springs matches that of the GPs.

So the ride height on the Intrigue springs will be the same as the GP? The reason I didn't look into those too much is because I thought I read that they sit a bit higher than the factory GP springs. And if both the Regal and Intrigue springs are variable rate, what made you go with the Intrigues? Thanks for the input so far, BTW.
