I started the new retrofit today, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to mount these yet tho. Either going to run some bolts so I can have manual adjusting or jb weld them, so I guess I'll keep messing with them n see what I can come up with.

I also don't know if I should go back to red shrouds or gunmetal grey..I will be painting the reflectors all black this time around though too. Leaning more towards gunmetal this time.

Gunmetal shrouds...switch it up a bit or wht about instead of blacking out the reflector since you have no black accent you use gunmetal instead and either keep the shroud chrome or painted.

Thanks, going to try n take my time with em..finally got an email back from trs to exchange the angel eyes too, so I have time to figure out which way to go

i was thinking that, but idk how well it'd look with the gunmetal. Maybe ill paint one to check it out. But I don't think it matters too much if it were black since there isn't even that much space seen from the reflector.

Haha it was everywhere man, my hair was grey.

Or colormatch the plastic bezel piece,. So many different combos you could go with.

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FX-R Quad Retrofit Started

I am also starting my Quad Retro. Do you think there will be enough room to clear the lense mounting the FX-R to the reflector?

I'm not too sure yet, it was seeming like a tight fit. I will know more in a couple of days..

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FX-R Quad Retrofit Started

I think it will depend on the shroud used.

What are you using for the highbeam?? Mini H1?

I have the Apollo 3.0 shrouds..e46 extenders probably would have been easier to fit. I'll go check n snap some pics. And yeah I'm just taking my minis n throwing them in the hi beams. I was going to just buy dummy projectors too but said screw it. What are you going with?

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FX-R Quad Retrofit Started

The same setup. FX-R 3.0 and the mini H1's for the highbeam however I will mod them for Halogen I think

I did something similar in the Bonneville. FX-R 3.0 for the highbeam, and a dummy FX-R 1.0 for the low beam.

I did the E46 shrouds in the Bonneville because of fitment

Yeah, I knew I seen the e46's used somewhere when I was looking for ideas.. Then I came across this http://www.grandprixforums.net/showthread.php?t=62358
so what car are you putting this set up in? You have an 04+ too?

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FX-R Quad Retrofit Started

Take a page out the corvette book all their shrouds come color matched, if I ever feel up too cracking mine open again there the reflector housing and all will be hydrodipped carbon fiber.

Yeah that hydrodipping is pretty sweet..little bit of money and idk who does that around here lol.

Heres a few more pics..
This shroud is huge so its either going to take cutting of the shroud or more of the reflector..ik theres a few more spot I can cut to set the projector back further. Itll have to be where the 4 mounting holes are since they pop out further than the rest. So pretty much like that other link I just posted. But thats why I just might cut the reflector all off because my shroud would just cover all that missing part anyways.
