Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I know this is a crappy first post but I got no choice, just found the site yesterday. Anyhow I got a 01 grand prix gt and the tranny went so now I need another one. My buddy has a garage and will put it in at a discount. I've been looking for a tranny the last couple of days and found an 03 Buick Lesabre 4T65E and was wondering if this will work in the grand prix...I found a tranny from an 03 grand prix too but the miles are significantly higher and would rather use the buick one if I could. Guys I kinda need the info in a hurry since I'm car less and don't want my gurl to keep driving me around in her little gurly car! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys....oh I used the search function but couldn't find anything.

You would be better off having your transmission rebuilt or buying a TripleEdgePerformance.com transmission. No telling how long a used one will last.

At the moment I don't have 1500 to drop on a tranny...and i'm in Canada the shipping and customs charges would rape me the tranny would prolly be around 2700 after it arrived...not sure if the car is even worth that much..i just need a temporary fix for now.

where in canada?

If you're in the GTA, seek one of the two redline transmissions. Good price, great work.

windsor area...guys thanks for the input...will the Buick tranny work or should i just go with the 03 grand prix...thanks...reallly would appreciate the info if anyone has partaining to my question...I know u guys are just trying to help.

Talk to trannyman to find out, there are differences in a check ball and numerous other things.

Make sure the gear ratios match else you'll need a retune of your PCM.

If the 03 tranny was off a 3.8 than it should work fine.If it was a gtp model than its differential is actually a little tougher, which is a plus, but it will work too.

the gtps tranny has different gearing, so if its out of a N/A 3.8 prix then youll be golden,, i believe

Yeah looking at the 03 grand prix tranny but has about 30k miles than the buick one...just figured since the buick tranny is the same model number and same platform as the gp, with lower miles it would be a better option

But old ladies drive Buick's...lol...did some research and pretty sure the buick transmission also has the same torque converter

HOLD ON!

The 03 is different and WILL NOT work in your 01 without swapping to an 03 PCM.

I can't believe how many people are giving advice in the transmission forum without that critical and well known piece of information.

The 03 Buick or the 03 Grand Prix tranny?...thanks I just need to be sure

I just did an 03 motor & trans swap on my 99. Im not sure about the torque converter, as I swapped the motor and trans together.
I used the 99 PCM, and it worked, but it didnt shift properly. now I am using an 03 pcm, and it seems to lag a bit in first, but other than that it works great.
You will need the cooler lines for the 03 trans as they have a different fitting.
You will need the range switch off of the 01, as the 03 switch has different connections.
I think that was everything
