quick question

Can I start out the mods to my car with 1.84 rockers? I have to replace my back valve cover gasket and figured I would upgrade my rockers while i was at it. My car is completely stock other than an open cone air intake. I'm just not sure if I need upgraded exhaust manifolds/headers to accommodate the increase in valve opening.

It's simple to change the rockers. Why not just do the rockers, exhaust, smaller pulley and tune all at once? I think it just makes sense.

Thanks for the replies. I just don't have the money for everything because I have to replace both fenders and the bumper and get them painted.

Running a higher lift...with no exhaust mods.

Spend the money on a downpipe...or headers.

If you don't want to do that, then don't bother getting rockers if you can't flow after them efficiently.

You can do the rockers when you do the valve cover. Realizing that your exhaust will be a restriction and may increase your chances of getting knock. Therefore if you do it.. drive gently on the rockers until you can get the rest of the stuff on the motor to support the rockers and flow.

I think Bill is saying that you are increasing the volumetric potential of the engine for which the stock exhaust was not designed for. This is the same reason people install exhaust and intake components on their car when they go to a smaller pulley...no?

I'm a firm believer in treating volumetric efficiency as a complete system. If you change one thing you'll probably have to change many.

Well I plan on getting the ssac headers in just a few weeks, will I be okay until then? I only drive to work less than 3 miles and a couple stop lights away, not really taking it above 45-50.
