question about zzp plog

It's not about going fast it's about getting the most for your money. For the same amount why not just get headers and let te car breathe a lil better?
 


wifes DD, plog all the way, im on a 3.5 pulley with a plog and have nominall (0.4-1.2) KR so unless she is going to be running a smaller pulley its just not NEEDED.

27 min install for plog > weekend of issues with header install

I pose the same question to all S/C guys on this form who end up spending the same amount over time on a S/C setup when your money could be better spent on a turbo setup which breathes better. :th_king-evil:
 
I understand that it's less downtime for plog and harder install, but If you read his posts he says maybe a top swap eventually so headers wouldn't be a bad idea. And he also mentioned the ported rear manifold as well, so if he were to do that them yea I would say headers, if the only thing you wanna do is the front manifold then I would say just the plog

Right, because headers are technically cheaper than the PLOG/U-Bend delete.

I'm sure if the OP doesn't have an exhaust shop that "knows" who they are, then the charges out the wazooo will apply. At least $50 for an install I'm sure.

So those "time consuming" headers just seem like the better deal.

If anything, I'd rather address the downpipe/u-bend than the PLOG.

Get a 3" catted or catless downpipe...it bolts in and replaces the horrible DP section and u-bend at the same time. It is also cheaper than headers and about the same price as a PLOG.

Touché my friend, but all I wants a few bolt ons to make her a bit faster, if I wanted to get in low numbers at the track I would invest in a turbo setup! Hell, just put a turbo on your wife's car, she'll never know >:-)
 
So it is an 04, thought it was lol. Like I said if the op really wants to do a top swap eventually then buy headers, if just leaving the way it is the do the plog.
 


Yep 04 has no ubend to worry about, just slap the plog on there and be done with it, one of the easiest jobs we have. I had a plog and dp on my sc car forever and I never had any kr issues, and nothing felt any different after I got headers.

And people with a lot more output than I have (smaller pullies) have run just fine on the plog alone. The rear manifold, from everything I've ever read, flows just fine as it just about already has separate runners for each cylinder.

If you really want to compliment that plog, grab an Hv3.. another easy one and there's an actual seat of the pants difference there.

Okay. I havent been able to check the exhaust mainfold yet to see where the leak is coming from. Ill probably just go with the plog because its a direct replacement with no welding.
 
The great thing here is that everyone has experience and opinions on problems and questions presented and it's good then that the OP can take all this in and make a decision that he/she is comfy with! It's all good! No worries OP, if you ever decide to go with top swap and switch things up there's an active secondary market here where you'll be able to sell the barely used parts :))). Hehe... Good luck and write back letting us know how you like the plog.

Thanks for all the replies. I really enjoy using this forum because generally everybody here seems nice and willing to help out. I am a member of civicforums.com as my dd is a 97 civic. Everybody there seems to be an a**. Like you ask a question and nobody will answer or people are rude. It really makes me want a grand prix myself. I love the mpgs of the civic but love the power of the grand prix... even if it is the slow n/a one
 
hey bud, if you ever want to see the plog before you buy I didn't see you were from CR, iowa. I just moved into CR, just give me a holler and you can look at mine and decide for yourself.
