Puking coolant between the oil pan and transmission pan?

Oops, looks like I was a dummy when I took off the tenserior last time. I ran a longer bolt down into the valve cover. So I mean the real fix is just replace but I don't wanna wait for an ebay cover to get here. Since it doesn't look like it was leaking I'm thinking of running the long bolt back in with maybe a little RTV around it. Or should I try and fill the hole with JB weld or something? Anyone have any ideas?

Also the coolant elbows, I broke the metal ones I used last time. I used RTV on the Oring last time, is that recommended?

id use the right bolts in the right place, clean that hole up and rtv it up. replace down the road. unless you got the time still to change it while its out the car. less crap in the way now vs back in the car.

Just finished up the valve covers, I went against your recommendation and used the long bolt in the wrong spot. It was like that for 3 years and never caused an issue. This time I put a blob of RTV on the valve cover hole then ran the bolt into it. It will go on my list of things to replace. I did plugs and wires while I had it out. Used AC delco wires, one of them was defective right out of the box, the connector that goes on the plug was pulled to far into the boot. After much frustrated i got it on the plug, if your standing at the belts its the back left plug, just leaving this info here as a memo to myself in case it's jacked up and misses like a SOB when I get it running.

One thing I did notice was one of the plugs was dripping with oil, the engine has not ran in like 6 months now. I'm gonna assume some oil leaked down when I had the engine upside down on the stand, does that sound reasonable?

Only thing left now is the oil filter adapter. I took it back off, just didn't feel like it was gonna seal. Didn't have any 1000 grit so ill save that for tomrrow.

you could do the smear of rtv on it, just make sure its thin, you dont want any making its way in the engine.

thin to me is you put it on and wipe most of it off with your finger, touch it and lift your finger up, little bubble like looking marks are left. it's like a tack coat of rtv. you know you got enough, but not to much. its like next to nothing there, but enough to hold the gasket to it securely.

Yeah, I get it. It was just enough to cover the treads. The hole is so perfect on the valve cover, looks like it was cut in with a tap. I could screw the bolt into it. I just put a blob on it just to get the threads covered. I know this is not right but i'll fix it later. After this week i'm not gonna be able to mess with the car again for like another 6 weeks. I don't wanna let it go on that long.

The engine is back in, man that took a ton of fiddling. the trans had to be jacked just right and the engine at just the right height. Took like an hour. Once lined up I could thread in the bolts by hand.

Anyways, started plugging in a few things before I called it a day, ran into my first mystery connecter

I got everything else plugged in, no clue what this one goes too. Anyone know?

Just took it for a ride, outside of rusty brakes it seems to be running great. To anyone that may find this thread, put the bracket that goes from the diff to the engine on before you bolt the power steering pump to the engine. I don't think you can get the bracket on with the PS pump bolted in. Outside of some AC issues that i'll make another thread for i'm just about finished. Just have to figure out how all the splash shields go back on and it's done.

Thank you all for the help, I still can't believe I got it done.

So as some of you know since I cried in the chat about it I had the low oil pressure light come on. So when this happened I pulled over and checked the dipstick and at the time I thought it was like 4 quarts overfilled. I'm thinking the head gasket is blown or something. I get home and drain the oil and only get like 4 and 3/4 oil out. I put in 5qts and a new filter. I can only assume I was panicking after see the low oil light and somehow misread a dipstick (you can all laugh at me). So I get a gauge and test the pressure and i'm getting like 38 PSI at a hot idle and 65 PSI at 3 grand. As I understand it these are good numbers right? The only thing that is slightly worrying to me is the needle twitches, like a little 5psi twitch on it, when I see videos online it shows a perfectly steady needle. Is that something I should be worried about? The engine has 120k on it.
