• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

PS3 broke

Taking ps3's apart are way easier than xbox's. I've had my fat 80gig apart for a month or so now trying to find a deal on a Bluray drive. My drive quit taking disc's or reading them for that matter.

well im paying 100 bucks and sending it to ps3repairshop . com ..... i dont want to mess with and it break it completely. these guys charge 59 for basic repair and 100 for a full overhaul and new soldering of the connections. and it also includes a lifetime warranty so i guess i ll take the hit and have a lifetime warranty :/

Might as well take advantage and have them repair it and after all you get to keep your data. Only thing that kept me from buying a new ps3 when the internal power supply went out was because I wasn't going to lose my data. It's all fixed now and ready to go.

the thing that got me was they have a lifetime warranty and all youd have to pay for is the shipping.

I've had 4 360's...all RROD within the 2nd year of ownership..i was so afraid to use my last i never touched it...until one day i said **** it and put it on craigslist 100% in working condition...had a guy come over to buy it and i turned it on in front of him and it RROD'd right then...i then, told him it was no longer for sale and unplugged it, removed the HDD and threw it off the back porch...i still have the HDD and 4 wireless black controllers as well as the cables lol...but i will never buy a 360 again...

I have 2 ps3's 1 an 80gb fat and a 120 slim ...they work perfect everytime...and they get used daily

The newer 360s dont have that issue anymore... please come back to the 360.
I had 1 360 fail me. Now my MW3 edition is on beast mode. Cant wait for the 720!

Got this email from the repair guys yesterday:

Stage 8 of the procedure is complete and we have a heartbeat (see attached). [Attachment was photo of a monitor showing main menu after boot-up, so it's working again.]

We are now on Stage 9 of 10, running additional tests to check for stability before we close the service ticket. The stability tests are perhaps the most critical part of the entire repair as it will determine whether our efforts over the last few days have been worthwhile. Pending the successful outcome of those tests your unit will be on its way back to you shortly.

Thanks for your patience throughout.

Probably same thing that happened to mine...hasn't been on in 8 months. Nephew wanted to play if...hooked it up...BAM...ylod. Beyond pissed how can a system overheat that hasn't been played. It was sitting on a self unplugged for months. Never again.

All you people with failing xbox's either have crappy connections frying them or you don't let them vent enough.

Hell I've got an original box that still works, and one with the quieter falcon drive in it.

Silly people and your problems. Also, MS fixes it for free, paying $100 sucks.

Guess that's the offset when I pay $30~ a year for a gold online membership.

Yea because everyone in this thread that has gone through at least one Xbox if not several all have crappy connections or not allowing it to vent enough? Doubtful. Maybe you just ended up getting lucky with your original?

360's die easy, known fact. old school run for ever. i bet mine still works if i fire it up. microsoft should fix it for free if you have to pay to play it.

Maybe, but you can go about testing the **** I don't care about there.

Ha.

You can also don't HAVE to pay for live...it's an option. So you can play a 360 for free, it's just limited.

Older xbox's are more prone to failing than the newer ones btw.

Paying for live < too much downtime waiting on Microsoft to send and ship a box < paid for live and seldom used it but kept getting charged every few months for another subscription even when I canceled the card..caused me to overdraft on more then one occasion < no more XBOX for me < PS3 FTW

Not my fault you didn't have any money and didn't turn off the autopay LOL.

And if you cancelled the card then you should have filed a dispute...because you would have gotten money back on a closed card, easily. Too add, it doesn't add up on a bank end because if the card was cancelled, you can't overdraft an account that isn't linked to a card, or process any transaction, re-occuring or not on a closed debit/credit card.

Regardless, I use live quite a bit, and talk to friends that don't live around here anymore...so it all depends on the person.

Doesn't help being a college student...didn't have much in the account...yea I ended up getting it all back it was just the hassle more then anything that pissed me off.

It's one of those checkmarked small print deals at the beginning...it happens. I had that happen to me as well, but the $9.99 I just missed it lol...didn't notice the ten bucks being gone every month till I checked my statements a few months later.
