project 12s buick (headers, 3.4, and tune coming now!)

Re: project 12s buick

the buick once its built will not really see much street driving once everything is done. its gonna be a weekend car. im doing the brakes and probably the kit that bill posted its getting 18 inch tires propably if i go cts-v brakes. thats what it said i need. this summer almost every suspension piece in the front was replaced. sway bar bushings all new control arms with new bushings and ball joints. new tie rods, new front struts, and cv axles. its gonna be pretty sound in the front suspension

Re: project 12s buick

thanks for the intrest im pretty excited about getting the parts in to it. im buying a lower milage l67 and throwing the mods onto that engine. then taking this one out. and rebuilding it. throw in a vs cam into it. and just have it as a mild back up engine.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Those drag bags are not only reasonably priced, they are easy to install. I kept mine set at near the max psi (IIRC 30) and weight transfer on a 97 Bonneville was nearly eliminated.

The downside to traction is .. you have an easier time destroying a transmission. Same goes for having a bit more weight than most cars.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

true. im gonna get a fully build one from triple edge performance. then slicks will help lock the tires down

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Find a 1" GMR chain. 7/8 stretch, 15/16" snap. I er uh.. stretched a 7/8 in under 5K miles with an abusive driving style. That was on street tires. I didn't use my slicks for that.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

98 PA Ultra's don't show to have the bonnie style, I show separate brackets and calipers so he should be alright.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

That's TL.. I remember Oldsman104 going for it with his 96 Riviera as well.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Not really a news flash.

Been there, spent too much and broke it too many times. If you think the stories you see these GP guys post are bad, prep your rectal cavity...cause a bigger car like the PA/Bonne/Riv is going to ream you out even more than a GP/Regal/Gimp/Monte

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

so i am to the point i am now at. and i was thinking about just pulling the engine out and doing all the gaskets. how hard is it to pull the engine?

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

It's not to bad just drop everything out the bottom and build her up right that way it's all done now for when you get your license back so it can get taken away again lol

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

haha yeahhh. my dad asked, why are you making it faster? you have enough tickets already!

but yeah it will be nice since i wont have to worry about gaskets giving when i cam and intercool it

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)
