power steering ?

I just replaced my power steering rack because the seals were shot and leaking like a sieve. I flushed the system well before sealing everything up and it worked great for my first couple trips then all of a sudden started working only half the time. Fluid level is where it should be, any ideas what might be causing this? Could my pump crapped out by coincidence?

Possible. Does it whine more loudly than normal (all these cars seems to have a bit of PS whine).

Does not whine at all. It has whined before the rack replacement when the reservoir was low. Seems to mostly do it at idle speed.

So your power steering is not working well at idle? I would say you need to replace the PS pump.

put the front end in the air, run the car, turn the wheel lock to lock, check fluid level, top up as required.

Repeat until the level stays consistent.

The fluid is staying at the full mark and it isn't whining.
