Well the intake manifold has one bolt that's broke off. Also it does have an oil consumption problem but I kinda ruled that to super leaky valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket

That broken bolt could be some of both the running and oil problems.

A spitting exh leak sound could be coming from the heat crossover passage at the intake gasket too if its one of the center bolts broken.

Also... I have crossed 5 & 7 3 or 4 times on my SBCs. For whatever reason I don't do it the Pontiac. They idle OK but when you step on it... well maybe just double check the ole 18436572 once more. Also if you have it ironed out pretty flat but haven't touched the issue, check that timing chain slack. Who knows how far off a set of old plastic tooth sprockets could be.

I'd always cross up wires on the 3800's.. was easy to find for sure.

Can't say that I ever goofed the wires on the 350.

Got my vacuum pump and gauges, almost ready to have my a/c working this weekend.

There you go. I have the HF gauges and pump that is compressor driven. It is amazing when you do the job right, how well things will work..

on the news they are saying they just have to offer self serve pumps as a test run of sorts.

funny cause the issue of safety came up, the guys like so every other state is doing it wrong? theres no safety issue lol

if they do do away with the attendants theres gonna be a swift learning curve for may people lol not that its hard to do, but if you never pumped your own gas you have no clue wtf your doing.

what you mean again? ive never "had" to pump my gas here. its a law thats been around since the 40's lol. and no, i aint that old.

Yeah I'm more of a do it right the first time person. If you have the money, life is short- so avoid wasting time and frustration and buy the best tools you can. I've been there before, buy the cheap stuff to get by, and it bites you later and you waste so much time, it was not worth it.

Got the 30 LB tank delivered today, stock picture below.

So for the math. by the way I have the impala's a/c to repair, and I'm sure a few others will pop up this summer. Just waiting on the pag oil, and I have to order an accumulator and condenser from advance.

Cans: 2.25lbs = 36oz = 3, 12oz cans. $9.23 a can x3 = $27.70/2.25lbs = $12.31 a pound.($27.70 total)
Tank: 1, 30lb tank. $107.95 a tank/30lbs = $3.60 a pound. ($8.10 total)

FWIW the HF stuff has treated me very well. Considering I'm not making a living out of it, they are adequate for my needs. I also have a 30lb, although it is getting lower now.

The reason I didn't get HF stuff is because it was a actually more expensive than name brand stuff on amazon. I found that a bit odd but they seem to have good a/c equipment

Had a job interview yesturday, got called back today with that offer and I accepted.

Always get those good and bad feelings right about now. Going to be a little different now.

I sure don't. I'll refrain from posting cool ancient vids and say... I bet it would kill the automotive passion in some dudes. Might inspire others. All I can say for sure is repetetive labor can hurt after awhile. I'd want to change stations often enough.

Yeah I've heard of that. My current position as a mechanic is known to hurt too. Especially the back and knees.
It offers full benefits after 90 days on top of more than I'm being paid now. I believe it is also a 10 minute drive from my house.

This is why I'm 4x4
