• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

post up your audio equipment

Good luck buddy! Tuning with EQ can take a long time. One thing thats worthwhile is when you've got it where you want it, turn it off then back on and see which actually sounds better.

3 f*ckin years and i still cant get my EQ tuned where i want it...

premier deck, DD 1510 subs, 500D memphis M class to subs, memphis PR highs and mids, 200 memphis M class to highs and mids.

^^^ no crap, my whole 2 weeks on R&R, everyday while I was driving/going somewhere, I was tuning with time alignment and such..... still got work to do...

That's what I had in my first car.

SR is polks top of the line.

I remember when polk first released their SR line up. There 6.5 components were $800
...on crutchfield (which is a joke for pricing btw) sells the sr 5.25components for 800 still... but can ebay for half that

i started with a 12" db (was listed on ebay as a 10") then went to a MM 10", loved it but didnt feel good enough and got my sr104svc for 130 refurbed by polk, i feel it was well worth it, now my only problem is tuning my amp i still cant get it right to play everything. i listen to a lot of metal, and i love when the kick drum is blasting but also love the bass drops aswell cant find the sweet spot :(

skip to 2:45 and see what they can do

how could u ever feel that a SVC would be worth it? I wouldn't run a SVC if it was given to me... :th_shakinghead1:

svc's are junk compared to dvc's....

- just wanna kno why ppl even still buy svc's

there are some SVC's out there that would piss on ur L7 DVC's. SVC's cant take the watts that a DVC can... but a SVC can put out more than a DVC.

yeah but dvc is just the shiznit...

and if i ever did run into a svc that pissed on my l7's, I'd just switch them out for some solo-x's and watch my rear window bust! :th_sign-ohsnap:

the only real advantage to DVC is wiring options. SVC is way more efficent. theres alotta science behind ohm.. impedance.. all that good stuff.

yeah but come on....svc's are old news...we'll so are dvc's but......

oh hell F- it....lol

u better be glad I don't feel like arguing gtpinsc, goodjob shuttin' me up! lol

agree to disagree.... they both have their advantages... ive never owned any DVC... but the SVC's i have had in the past with the right setup with minimal watts will deafen you. im not saying i have the loudest system in the world... i have 700 watts total with highs and mids, subs... my roommate says he thinks im pullin in the driveway when in actuality im over a mile down the road.

SVC and DVC are one in the same...basically a DVC just cuts the coil in half to make 2 separate circuits, giving you more wiring options for instance, a dual 4 ohm speaker can be wired as 2 ohms or 8 ohms, and the possibilities grow with multiple speakers...a SVC is limited to whatever that particular speaker is rated at. A SVC will handle just as much power and be just as efficient, and ultimately sound the same as its DVC brother..just less versatile..

...EQ and time alignment and all that other fun stuff can't fix your system when its split up like the one in that youtube link further on in this post. The tweeters are in the A pillars and the midwoofers are in a position like the stock fronts in a GP. I've tried that setup, it sucks.

Yeah i heard about the kick panel set up being pretty bad I'm never really going to consider it.

Buddy... I'll bet those small drivers with the phase plug are midwoofers and are playing up to at LEAST 2000 Hz... If so, thats a fail of a system because when the cone moves that much, your midrange will be distorted to hell. If you move the high pass filter on them up, they'll sound better but then your subs will be more localized which will also suck. Can't really win with that setup.

well my front speakers are through the head unit and not any amp, i do hear fair amounts of mid-bass coming from them but they're just low powered compared to the sub and tend to get drowned out. Another note is my sub box is too big (.86cf) while my subwoofer is rated for .66cf. i just need to find the best way to fill it.

Your amp can't be tuned. Your speakers position and crossovers can be tuned.

I suppose i meant tuning the crossovers on the amp for the subwoofer. The visonik is a mono class D and has a LPF 50 - 250hz and a "Sub sonic" 20 - 50hz. which makes it confusing for me. I liked the alpine which just had one crossover adjustment. Another note is my sub box is too big at .86 cf, the subwoofer is rated for .66 cf sealed. which im sure also adds to distortion :th_shrugshoulders:

polk sucks. blew two of there single enclosure db series

I very much knew the limit of them. I played with them and put them on the verge of distortion to keep track of how loud was too loud. By no means are they the best but they are a heck of a value IMO.
