hey guys just wondering if any one with a l36 has seen any gains from porting there lower intake manifold and if so what gains thanks
 


porting what about it?

'porting' the inlet will make no differences since you dont need it opened anymore.

porting the outlets going into the heads will make a step down from the LIM to the heads, which you dont want.

so all im getting at: no gains for you.

so the lim that blue did will not make gains port matching is point less?
 
You can get some gains from porting the LIM. I guess I would not call it porting but cleaning.

If you do it you will just want to smooth the runners removing as little material as possible. The inlet side should not need any work but the out let side will. When opening the outlet side you will be trying to match the heads port I think the measurements for the port should be 1.85x0.85. When doing mine I found that placing the gasket on and tracing the inside edge with a standard sharpie gave me the correct stopping point.

Performance wise you will not notice much but it should smooth the power band and open the top end a bit.

Tip: If you are doing this you should block the coolant flow to the TB by plugging the top of the LIM and then remove to coolant bypass plate on the side and port that a bit for better flow then replace the plate.

I did EXACTLY...that that guy is describing...I opened them up more at the top though, matching the runners to a HV3...and gasket matched the outlet of the runner to the GM LIM gaskets. As for the coolant bypass though, I haven't touched that...do you have pics of yours by chance? Porting isn't really my thing but I just kinda picked it up because I was bored and had never seen a ported L36 LIM...so since I had one I figured...why not right?
 


I do not have any pics of opening the coolant passage but when you have the plate off you will be able to see a part that looks like the top of a "T." You will cut it down to look more like an "l".

When you get the plate off it will explain its self.

I mill it out but you could do the same thing basically with a die grinder, see how it goes in right there? I take out 3/4" for more flow but it used to be flush with the end.
