Ported Heads & Matched LIM...What springs/rockers?

Just got a deal on a set of extra heads and LIM... my buddy is a machinist at an engine shop so I'm getting my heads ported & polished along with matching LIM.

Question is what springs/roller rockers should I go with?

I plan on dropping somewhere near 3" pulley in the future.

Everythings basically stock right now.

Anything else I should do while I'll already be this far into my engine.

No need to upgrade springs unless you are going to swap camshafts.

Rockers would be pointless aswell if you are already improving the flow of the intake and heads.

Any suggestions on a cam? I'm thinking I'll order one since we're already getting into the engine swapping heads/LIM/gaskets etc.
 
That all depends on what you want. There's many good cams out there; NIC, VS, XP, S1X, ect. Do you have headers? Other mods? Asking for suggestions is a trick question really, lol everyone has their own opinions on cams. I went with the XP cam in my car and I LOVE it, others not so much!!! The lope sound is great power is awesome, it gets looks and it sounds better then some V8's running around here, and is very streetable so far. VS puts out essentially the same power on quick bursts with a smoother idle and IIRC you can use stock valve springs and retainers. My XP opens up on the highway, but I rarely get going 100MPH+ and my PCM is tuned for higher shift points. There is a coupe of threads here and google that will help you expain the differences in cams. Find out the specifics of each and see which one suits your needs the most.

What do you mean? Don't you still pull 20+ish HP out of these with P&P heads? It doesn't make sense that you'll not make gains with other flow mods. Please explain, especially since I'm planning on going this route.
 


IMO dont bother touching the heads unless you go well over .5 lift.

P&P heads with stock cam and rockers you will most likely lose a fair bit of bottom end torque for a small top end gain
