Popping exhaust

Hey guys so ever since I've been going to the new sams club gas station because it's like. 30 cheaper then the other stations near me.. So since then my exhaust pops when going over 4k in drive I also get a rotten egg smelling smell to.. No codes are thrown either I have an overkill pcm and thought that something could have got messed up with the tune so I pulled the negative cord on it to reset it.. That hasn't worked.. Any thoughts? Could it just be bad gas?
 


it can cause misfires, which is what you are feeling when it wont go past 4,000 rpms, the cel light should be flashing when you do this, flashing light means stop doing what your doing.

if you can get your car in the air, ramps, or jacks, hit the cat when its cold, listen for stuff rattling around inside it.if so its shot.

you can also remove the o2 sensor in the upper rear manifold and see if moves better, yes this will cause a nice exhaust leak, but its a test only. or have the exhaust pressure tested.
 


its probably the cat, if it smells like rotten eggs, like stated before.

When the car is cold jack it up and tap on the cat. If it rattles, its shot.

and no it doesnt have to be from all rpm's for it to be the cat, just when it flows enough to cause a problem
 
just changed the fuel filter and did the taping on the cat... there was no rattling and the fuel filter didn't do a thing. still no codes thrown (been checking with just a regular obdII scanner) it will go above the rpms it just starts to "pop" around then... i am going to try the removing upper o2 sensor... can i go full throttle like that? and if that doesn't work what would u guys suggest to do?
 


I'm not exactly sure how to describe it really.... Would a video help? I wouldn't say it's really popping but more like a little stutter.
 
I took a video on my phone how do I upload it? Lol and I would more classify it as it hesitates.. And while being on the highway it did it a couple times when I got on it but then I did it a couple other times and no problems
 


no change when you pulled the o2 sensor? You described a popping sound at the start of this thread, is that what is on the video? Or is the hesitation something new? I'd start checking electrical...battery & alternator tested...check ground wires.
 
haven't tried the o2 sensor and to be honest i really am not sure how to describe the sound id guess its more of a hesitating sound o a stutter r.. it defiantly seems like its exhaust related but i could be totally wrong. the battery is 4 years old so that could be it. also, when i check the o2 sensor, do i just drive it normally without the sensor in? like floor it an all and see if that does it?
